folk punk is fun, my friend's in a folk punk band and i got to see them do their thing and it was nice. no real experience with the genre outside that i'm afraid
plenty of hippies were genuinely decent and plenty of punks are huge pieces of shit. but broadly i think these are trends that can be drawn.

punk is about being a contrarian asshole, that's the only requirement. that's why it's good a lot of the time but also contains some massive reactionaries

i mean that's an added side benefit for these people, but phrasing it like this kind of makes it sound like they're enforcing transphobia just to hurt cis women. it's very much the opposite! cis women uphold transphobia almost if not exactly as much as cis men, and when we spend too much time emphasizing the fact that transphobia harms them as well (despite being obviously true) it erases the fact that the true target of this is always trans women
there's a bunch of discussion over on the trans comm, important takeaways are: if they killed themself it was still absolutely because of the year long harassment campaign that got them beaten into unconsciousness the day before; and the stated cause of death is benadryl and prozac, which don't interact that badly and would therefore need high doses to be lethal, would take time and be possible to treat, and wouldn't match the symptoms they were described as having. this was a murder any way you look at it
