  • what clique what fucking clique what is this group of warlords and/or mean girls on this site that do not like me. i will fight you

  • what about cliquey and mold-scoldy?

I am in a gang with black mold futures. and we will stab you if you are a anti-beanis PMC Karen bugeater.

  • ive been here for 4 years and i dont know a single one of you shitheads and i still manage to have a good time here.

also before someone points out this account is 2 years old i cycled usernames frequently for the first couple years but now i think there's a survey so im scared to nuke this account

  • Lmao what is this person talking about. Even liberals are welcome here if they engage in good faith and are respectful.

We might boldly tell them their ideas are bad or skewer their sources but that's not rude - this is our space - of course we won't let contrary ideas be disseminated without challenge. As long as they are polite things generally go well. If they ask real questions people will generally be nice and willing to reply.

We can be initially harsh sometimes but the visiting liberal must remember the context: we have years of history of wreckers and assholes coming here with gotcha questions and bad faith. We're a little jaded there. But it's a reflexive self defense and we are vindicated in that vigilance because we are still standing as a safe place to discuss leftist ideals and organizing. We can say we dislike capitalism without having to deal with 30 of the same tired liberal criticisms. Surely they must appreciate how tiring that is even if they disagree with what is being said. Imagine if every time you said "I prefer Coca-Cola" a host of Pepsi Locusts descended to chatter about how wrong you are and piss and shit all over. Exhausting.

And yeah we might be wholly intractable on certain issues but that's because we do have some zero-tolerance rules and they are there for a reason. So no, you can't come in here and ask why it's okay for black people to say the n word and it isn't for white people. Nobody here is going to be defending you for asking it with a quote from Voltaire. It's not happening. Deal with it. It's not a big ask.

  • The cliquey part is probably true tbh.

    • I feel like Redditors and Reddit-minded people (

) mistake having a different "site culture" (for lack of better words) for cliquey-ness

They also have a site culture but it's shit and they can't even tell it exists anymore, it's just normal to them like fish in water

Although idk maybe there's something to be said about power-posters or whatever, but I think that's mainly a result of having a small userbase

      • It's absolutely this, mostly because after only posting pretty much here for 4 years now I can smell the Redditor on people to the point where I am at like a 90% accuracy rate of knowing who is a new account or not. And I'm fine with giving them the benefit of the doubt for posting, but I don't like interacting with them too much.

      • someone is always going to be the most prolific poster. it's just how numbers work.

    • It's a monolithic clique

      • Most of the online left is structured like a fandom or group of overlapping fandoms for compatible left media organizations and creators and academics. This is very cliquey as is most social media. Lemmy is like if individual cliques of nerds each had their own Hacker News (instead of the ycombinator group of nerds) with optional crossposting.
