US Navy loses $60 million jet at sea after it fell overboard from aircraft carrier
cnn headline leaving out the best bit.
yemeni armed forces assisted comrade ocean in this one:
A US official said that initial reports from the scene indicated that the Truman made a hard turn to evade Houthi fire, which contributed to the fighter jet falling overboard. The Houthi rebel group claimed on Monday to have launched a drone and missile attack on the aircraft carrier, which is in the Red Sea as part of the US military’s major anti-Houthi operation.
Another F/A-18 from the Truman was also “mistakenly fired” upon and shot down by the USS Gettysburg in the Red Sea in December ; both pilots ejected safely.
Lmao
This is why you can't get healthcare in America. Fucking amazing lol

Is it typical for it to just fall off the front?
usually the front falls off
A missile? In enemy territory? Chance in a million!
only if cardboard and cardboard derivatives are used
It fell off the ship when it was in transport in tow transitioning from the flight deck to the hangar bay. A Houthi missle and drone was fired at the AC which caused the AC to bank hard and gravity did the rest.
that's not very typical, i'd like to make that point
LOL. Who’s getting sacked?

Who let the DOGE out?
How many times per year does this happen?
Please sink the whole thing next time
If the turn was hard enough that an aircraft fell off the side, then potentially several aircraft were effectively destroyed by just sliding along the deck into each other.
Lashing the aircraft to the deck is woke and we're not doing that anymore.
