Very much so this. Been free of direct bosses for a decade ( clients are the replacement bosses though).

But I can fire my bosses, and have once. And I have total control about my workplace ( home).

There are many downsides, it’s not all good. I think the trade off is worth it

When people have limited choices to vote on, voting for a or b does not make them like a or b.

I think this is not conservatism, but a bunch of crooks, holding power in the state, who play to the most radical elements to shore up their theft of state funds.

Social unrest may evolve this network faster than expected, in particular ways that are not foreseen. So, in my mind there are two paths for lemmy. A stable growth or chaotic .
