Auch wenn du deine Amerikanische Staatsbürgerschaft aufgeben willst, wird das recht teuer. Die Gebühren dafür sind erstmal teuer: $2.350! Oben drauf wird dann dein Vermögenswert noch versteuert. Um dein Pass aufzugeben musst du auch für den letzten 5 Jahren brav dein Steuererklärung in den USA abgegeben haben. Es ist richtig fies.

Theoretisch müsstest du deine US Staatsbürgerschaft auch bei deinem Bank und möglicherweise andere finanzielle Institutionen melden. Die sind seit einigen Jahren verpflichtet - alle deine Daten und Kontoinfos an das US Treasury weiterzuleiten. Ohne Scheiß.

Mein herzliches Beileid! Ich bin Amerikaner in DE (inzwischen sogar Staatsbürger) und das mit dem IRS ist echt nervig. Ich hatte mehr als 10 Jahre nichts eingereicht bevor ich wieder angefangen habe zu filen.

Damals gab es eine Art Begnadigungsprgramm, wo man die letzte drei Jahre einreichen soll (egal wie lange es gewesen ist) und dann war es in Ordnung. Man war dann aber wieder drin im System und muss theoretisch jedes Jahr brav weiter machen.

Wenn du nicht mehr als 100.000$ im Jahr verdienst, musst du dort auch keine Steuern zahlen. Nur für den Steuerberater Nuss man bezahlen, bei mir ist das etwa 300€ im Jahr.

Ob du anfangen sollst, kann ich dir nicht sagen. Die IRS ist bekanntlich unterbesetzt und unterfinanziert. Ob die dir wirklich hinterherkommen? Es könnte später aber etwas kompliziert werden, zum Beispiel wenn du eine Wohnung besitzt und die verkaufen willst.

Taxes For Expats ist ein guter Anfang. Solltest du filen, kannst du es mit denen Online machen. Meine Steuererklärung ist etwas komplizierter und benutze deshalb eine private Service. Aber ich kenne viele die mit TFE GT klar kommen. Die könnten eventuell deine Fragen beantworten bevor du anfängst. I'm currently traveling and really enjoying Against the Storm on the deck. Its easy to pop in for twenty minutes or just sink a couple hours into it. Runs super smooth on the deck.

Actually GEMA takes a percentage from the big pop musicians to help fund the contemporary/avantgarde composers who would otherwise earn a lot less. There are plenty of things to complain about with GEMA but I think for the most part they do a lot to support smaller, more obscure genres. (I ran a publishing company for contemporary music in Germany for ten years, so I had a lot to do with GEMA)

It works the same way in Germany. If you're playing music in essentially any venue, even just on the radio, you pay a royalties fee. For places that do it everyday there is usually a flat yearly fee. At least here, a good chunk of that money does indeed fund other cultural endeavors.

Some stretches do have limits. But even where there are no speed limits there are suggested maximum limits. If you're over that limit and have an accident (that normally might not be deemed your fault) you're more likely to be held liable.
