I have autoupdates disabled but around a year ago one got through and, for some reason, it uninstalled the default photo viewer that had nothing wrong with it. I tried to replace it with the one listed in the store and it just straight up wouldn't work. Windows and microsoft by themselves are perfect examples of how pathetic capitalism is at delivering good products.

Windows update blocker to block updates until you need one and update show/hide if there's something specific you need or want. You can also block the forced win11 update in group policy.

There is a new community tool to manually download updates which I haven't tried but looks promising.

It ran extremely poorly when I tried it, like an inconsistent 40 on the first bank map. I tried to look for fixes but on top of there not being much I didn't really want to do the developer's work for them. It's also online only. The core game loop seemed good but I didn't get far enough to see how the progression worked. Also the nebula site that's needed to play was outright broken for a full day when I tried it at the end of november.

I'm going to check on it in again in a year and see if it's worth playing.
