  • On a scale of 1 to 10 how likely do you think war is?

I've been barely following the conflict. I just woke up and when I checked the news about Lebanon - I saw the news that Nasrallah had been killed. On this "live updates" page - the list of recent events on this page certainly made feel war is immanent - Lebanon live updates: Hezbollah confirms that leader Hassan Nasrallah killed in Israeli airstrike

How significant is this from the list? Emphasis mine.

    • Iran, Hezbollah's powerful ally has condemned the strike, calling it a "blatant war crime," that crosses its red lines. Iran announced today that it will begin sending troops to Lebanon.

What are your costume ideas for Halloween
  • On the fly my friend created what I thought was a great Halloween costume. He wore an inflatable swim ring around his face and head. And he had a cheap tie hanging down from his chin over the ring. When people asked him what his costume was he said "(Of course) I'm a flower."

Before we got to the party we stopped off at a dollar store. He bought plastic bunches of grapes and he attached them to his clothes with safety pins. At the party - out of nowhere - a woman picked a grape off his costume. And then throughout the night a surprising number of women picked his grapes.

    American Service-Members' Protection Act

The American Service-Members' Protection Act (enacted August 2, 2002), known informally as The Hague Invasion Act, is a United States federal law described as "a bill to protect United States military personnel and other elected and appointed officials of the United States government against criminal prosecution by an international criminal court to which the United States is not party".

The Act gives the president power to use "all means necessary and appropriate to bring about the release of any U.S. or allied personnel being detained or imprisoned by, on behalf of, or at the request of the International Criminal Court".

Who is Marty the Robot and Why Do We Need Retail Service Robots?

What Can Marty the Robot Do?

When Marty notices spills or other trip hazards, he can alert customers verbally by saying “Caution. Hazard detected.” He can then contact employees through the store’s public announcement system. Marty the Robot can also scan shelves to check products and detect incorrect pricing or missing labels.

Shoppers don’t need to worry that personal information about them is being collected. Any images or videos Marty captures is stored for a short period of time and is then destroyed. His focus is on identifying spills and price mismatches, not monitoring security.

  • I'm watching MSNBC and they're talking about the fighting between Hezbollah and Israel. The anchor is talking to a guy from the Such-and-Such Institute for Peace. He's used the terms "ground op", "tactically", "this could tarnish Israeli's brand", and "the deaths of innocents". Even the military guys (ex-generals and such) on CNN and MSNBC don't use lingo like that because they know it's ghoulish and creepy.
