This is the thing I really don't understand about the AI crowd. I would be so much more supportive of companies like openai if they they were pursuing the automation of the dull tasks nobody wants to do, rather than flagrantly breaking copyright laws (the same ones that have been weaponised against normal folks) to create a pale imitation of human creativity.
Like, shit. I want a machine that will do my taxes and fold my laundry so that I have more time to pursue artistic endeavors.
Seriously. Why the fuck would I want a machine that draws for me? What's next, a machine that pets cats and laughs at jokes so that I can use all my energy towards making profit for our overlords?
You might not, but someone is out there who can't draw, or doesn't want to put the time in to master making the art they want to see, or doesn't want to pay fair rates for labor to put art in their content to make it look pretty for commercial purposes.
Either way, actual human artists are losing their economic leverage to make a living.
As someone who mothertongues a language that reads "ä" as "eh", I’ve always been calling that thing "heh'aagen-dasz" and because of that I’ll never buy it. It could be delicious, yet I refuse to support this kind of usage.
It was named by Americans who wanted to make a name that sounded Danish.
Soon, the only way we'll be able to afford ice cream is virtually...
you can still draw you know
I see you've met my government officials.
A more apt comparison would be a robot with ai that makes ice cream for you.
I’ve never seen anyone say they should ban traditional art and only have AI?
What a well constructed strawman.
It's not a perfect analogy because no one is paid to eat ice cream. People do get paid to produce art, and that allows a lot of people to pursue their passion while still being able to house and feed themselves. Automating art and making it cheaper than humans means they would no longer be able to do that. We've automated away jobs that people actually enjoy doing. It's not banning per se, but it greatly reduces how much time people can spend on it.
Don't try to present an argument to the Anti-AI crowd; they don't even know what AI is.
typical AI doomer
I get the waffle vs pancake debate but who doesn't like ice cream?
it's one of those sarcasm doesn't translate on the internet things ;P
