@wjs018@ani.social Maybe it would be a good idea to post about how @rikka@ani.social works.
I believe this /c has gained a significant number of new users over this season, and the newbies may not understand that they need to comment inside their favorite shows threads to get rikka to post the next episode thread, or that they can request episode threads if rikka drops a show.
That depends on how Canada implemented their plastic bag ban.
California's ban allowed "reusable" bags, which the plastics industry interpreted to produce bags that looked a lot like the thin single use bags, but of thicker plastic, and consumer habits weren't changed by much.

Like @TheTechnician27@lemmy.world said, this is closing a loophole that was in the original grocery bag reduction law.
This is the final episode.
Watch episode 0 again, because it makes more sense after episode 16.
It is believed that the producers structured the show that way to grab an audience from the start.
But it didn't work, because this is one of the lowest rated shows this season.
Which is a shame because the writing is actually really good IMO.
The news came just hours after the SFUSD's top leader narrowly avoided termination.
> San Francisco Mayor London Breed announced Sunday that she’s lending some of her own staff to help the city’s troubled public school district, whose top official narrowly avoided termination just hours earlier.
> Hours after the San Francisco Unified School District’s governing board wrapped up a meeting in which it considered firing Superintendent Matt Wayne, accepted the mayor’s offer.
> In a news release Sunday afternoon, Breed said she’s carving out $8.5 million for the School Stabilization Team to help SFUSD overcome its dysfunction.
> Money for the mayor’s effort comes from a 2022 measure that unlocked city money to help SFUSD with so-called Student Success Funds for urgent needs. That’s on top of the $100 million the city already provides annually to its K-12 district.

The number of people sleeping outdoors in San Francisco dropped to under 3,000 in January, the lowest the city has recorded in a decade, according to a federal count.

> The number of people sleeping outdoors dropped to under 3,000 in January, the lowest the city has recorded in a decade, according to a federal count. > > And that figure has likely dropped even lower since Mayor London Breed — a Democrat in a difficult reelection fight this November — started ramping up enforcement of anti-camping laws in August following a U.S. Supreme Court decision. > > Homelessness in no way has gone away, and in fact grew 7%, to 8,300 in January, according to the same federal count. > > But the problem is now notably out of the public eye, raising the question of where people have gone and whether the change marks a turning point in a crisis long associated with San Francisco.

Hopefully Mayor Breed will show up this time...
Mayor London Breed told The Standard that, after he left the mayor's office, Mark Farrell asked for a special favor to speed up his home renovation permits. Farrell called the allegation a "bold face lie."
Farrell's response regarding this incident doesn't make sense.
If he was purely interested in how long the issuance of the permits would take, why not call the DBI directly instead of Mayor Breed's office?
It’s beginning to look a lot like Nuru with a pattern uncovered during mayoral candidate Mark Farrell’s time on the Board of Supervisors, as a report details how he got $1.2 million in donations directed to a nonprofit where his wife serves on the board.
As Supervisor, Mark Farrell requested noticeably more "behested" payments from companies that had business before the city than other Supervisors.

The movie just recently became available for streaming, so I got a chance to watch it.
Mostly a recap of the first 2 seasons, but from Nagi and Reo's point-of-view.
I felt disappointed by this:
Nagi isn't the most captivating or motivated character. He has a one-dimensional personality and this movie does nothing to change that.
He spends most of the movie moaning about what a hassle it is to do just about anything: Playing soccer, brushing his teeth, even eating.
Incredible football super powers aside, he just isn't interesting enough to be the subject of a 90 minute movie.
It was nice to watch the group elimination stage from Team V's point of view, but it's presented almost as quick highlights, with maybe the best part being against Nico's Team Y, although more screen time is given to their fateful match against Isagi's Team Z.
And that's a problem, because we already saw what happened in V vs Z in excruciating detail in the TV episodes.
Assuming anyone who is investing time and money to watch this has already watched the show already knows exactly what happens, so what was the value add here?
Although the production did animate just about everything from scratch for the movie, there was disappointingly little actual new story.
And the movie production quality was also not that great.
The TV show is famous for its Powerpoint-style graphics, and the movie was only slightly above that.
It felt like a missed opportunity to "fill in the gaps" of the action that's happening between the Powerpoint slides.
To sum up, it feels like a lot of poor production and concept decisions.
The proposed combined company of Paramount and Skydance is valued at around $28 billion. The deal is expected to close in September 2025, pending regulatory approval.
Shari Redstone's company, which had agreed to a merger with Skydance Media in July, has extended its "go-shop" window until Sept. 5 to take a closer look at the offer from a group led by the former Warner Music Group chief.
