  • One of the weirdest elements of boomer culture is that they absolutely love the shit out of Temu. They gonna be pissed when they’re paying triple the shipping for their cheap plastic treats.

    • One of the weirdest elements of boomer culture is that they absolutely love the shit out of Temu.

Inside the heart and soul of every True American is a Treatler yearning for chunko pops at the lowest price possible

    • which is ironic because they're the richest generation with a median individual net worth of around a million dollars. meanwhile gen z and millennials are poor as shit, but don't use temu half as common as all the old fucks i know. i mean obviously there's plenty of dirt poor boomers, but i feel like most of the temu shoppers are just middle class cheapskates

      • also, i think most temu shoppers seem to literally believe they're buying from a child sweatshop operation, but don't give a shit. the idea child sweatshops are a common thing in modern china seems to be US propaganda (although i'm sure there's still unethical practices akin to US companies like amazon), but the point is, these people think they're buying from child labor, but don't care, whatsoever.

it seems like admitting you shop from temu is actually somewhat taboo in gen z. i remember someone in my class mentioned shopping there and the girls she was talking with gave her a funny look and were like, "don't they use child labor?" not to mention, whenever you open the comment section on a temu ad/sponsorship on tiktok or insta, the comments are full to the brim with people accusing them of slavery.

on the other hand, i've seen videos with hundreds of thousands of likes making "dark humor" jokes like "these little kids better be working overtime so i get my package on time" or "when you get a note begging for help in your temu package but it came 3 days late," which honestly made me stomach churn at how sociopathic the ultra treatlerists are. don't get me started on the shein addicts, GO TO A THRIFT STORE IF UR BROKE YET WANT A NEW OUTFIT EVERY WEEK!

TLDR: americans are propagandized to believe they're buying from chinese child slaves but half of them are too sick and evil for the propaganda to make any difference

    • I got some really good wool socks from Temu that are actually much better quality then the American made socks I bought for 3x the price.

The idea that Temu is only cheap plastic is wrong. You can get quality cotton, wool, and metal products on there

      • When your only options to get a generic household item are Amazon, Walmart, or Temu. Temu feels like the best option here.

  • Consumers and small businesses are already feeling the impact of President Donald Trump’s new tariffs, which eliminated a key trade exemption for parcels worth less than $800.

    [...]

The elimination of the $800 duty-free exemption is expected to hit Chinese low-cost shopping platforms like Shein and Temu the hardest, but many smaller ecommerce sellers have also felt the burn. Brands selling mechanical keyboards, underwear, and tea have all notified their customers of potential shipment pauses and price increases in response to the tariffs, according to screenshots shared on Reddit.

  • Actually frustrated, I was gonna get more gardening supplies off aliexpress/temu and now I’m gonna have to just pay some dipshit online for the same stuff but much more expensive
