  • New corporate buzzword I absolutely despise - Journey

    It's not a fucking journey. It's a process.

Stop trying to make boring shit appeal interesting. It's boring, but that's a how it is. Changing the label doesn't make it exciting.

    • I'd put that on the backburner but to shy away from jargon like that is a paradigm shift.

We could loop in and should probably table it. It is low hanging fruit but still requires a deep dive.

      • You deserve a kick to the throat for that.

With all due respect of course.

      • It might be worth circling back at a later date, to see what stakeholder uptake is like. Donโ€™t forget itโ€™s important to view these things through an organisational lens to ensure maximum buy-in.

    • Wellbeing and mindfulness riles me up when it gets mentioned at work because it generally isn't thought of and cared for and often at odds with people's actions no matter how much they scream they're looking out for people.

      • Add holistic to that as well.

As much I hate those words and phrases, I hate the wankers that lap it up.

        Grrrrr

      • @Duenan @MeanElevator
I am grateful I can practise heartfulness.
It's really important for me to engage with others at an emotional level. Too much mind interferes with the flow of feelings, so I try not to think while I'm at work.

A manager might say your statement is reason to enter a conversation.

Conversation, my aching foot! That's corporate speak for performance management.

    • "We are mapping out the customer experience journey" is such a dramatic way to describe designing a form ...

  • Canโ€™t sleep, am lung hacking snot monster. Donโ€™t know if allergy thing or a bug. Gross either way.

    • Why not both ? I got floored by hayfever on top of the tail end of a bad head cold. Bless the flying spaghetti monster for antihistamines!

      • You may well be correct. I donโ€™t like taking them as they make me feel weird, but breathing is kind of important.

    • allergy, even Bill Cat is suffering with it

      • Poor Bill Cat. Donโ€™t know if cats are allowed Phenergan but itโ€™s helping considerably. Still feel like shit though.

  • I burnt the gozleme I made for dinner cos distracted.

Side note : bits of burnt gozleme in the sink look exactly like baby cockroaches.

  • Knocked the coffee on my desk over while on a work call, said "shit" very low as the other person was speaking but don't think they heard me. Had to frantically clean the spill up while talking as coffee was dripping onto my carpet. A fair amount went onto the carpet... I've got this carpet stain remover that I've never used before, hopefully it does the trick.

I've been lucky - I've worked from this carpeted room for years and the worse floor spill has been water.

  • Listening to music at work on my laptop.

Can't connect Bluetooth devices to my work laptop l so using an audio cable with my headphones. Got the cable from Amazon for like $5.

Something is fucky cause the audio crackles a bit, except I'm enjoying it somehow. Gives it an analog LP feel almost.

The bug is definitely a feature

  • I bought some sour worm lollies. I canโ€™t stop eating them โ˜น๏ธ

  • God damn it.. I'm actually liking using the iPhone. This is unacceptable.

Turns out they've come a long way in the 11 years since I used one. Face ID for auth inside apps (not just for unlocking the phone) is a game changer. Plus app devs have clearly put just a little more love into iOS apps then their Android counterparts. It's nothing major, just little things but they're noticeable. I also love the haptics. The screen and sound seem better too.

My 2 annoyances so far are that it's a regular iPhone 15 which feels a bit small in my bear-paw and I fumble with it and CarPlay (which does look excellent in my car) doesn't have the ability to have media controls on the screen at the same time as full screen Waze like Android Auto does. Having both on the screen at the same time uses way too much screen to show the media controls but that might because my screen is portrait rather than landscape. Probably looks fine in landscape on those wide screens you get in new cars.

Anyway ffs I wasn't supposed to almost prefer it over my Android phone.
