For the longest time launch codes were all zeroes, because they're not the only thing needed to launch the nukes and when you actually want to launch the nukes you don't wanna accidentally forget the codes.
Chinese people are generally deeply xenophillic in my experience, foreigners in non-foreign filled towns are usually seen as neat oddities. My perspective may not be hollistic, but that was what I experienced with friends of many different nationalities.

Yeah I've been to China and except one instance where a cop asked to see my passport and was a little rude, no one in China expressed xenophobia to me. They'd ask polite questions about where I'm from if they spoke enough English.
