I work from home so I have set a guest network with no access to my private WiFi. I have 2 windows PCs, one gaming rig and a server that handles media trough Plex. This server is running qbitorrent through a VPN. In Windows I have set my network as private so I can file share between the server and the gaming pc easily. Also I have a couple of smart switches and lights on my private network.

Is this the correct way to do this or is there something I need to change?

Tested opening YouTube's homepage and it stops spinning at around 2.8 sec. Is that okay, or is there room for improvement? I'm using AdGuard DNS. Tried without any DNS adjustments and with Cloudflare's, but still the same.And if I close all pc backround app ( like discord, listary ) and all browser extension, then YouTube still takes 2.2 sec to load.

Any way to get site loading under 2 sec, or is that a tough goal nowadays?PS : My steam download speed at max is 66 MB/s

Since then, it seems like the internet performance has taken a hit. The modem/router had to be relocated to the basement from upstairs, since that's where the fibre is coming in an the rest of the residence is not wired for fiber or Ethernet.

Being that the performance took a hit, we tried using the cable companies 'pod' network instead of the previous router, which wasn't a great router to begin with (Archer C1200).

So one pod is connected to the modem in the basement, and the other pod is upstairs, the upstairs pod is not a wired connection.

But the performance even seems a bit worse now than with the budget Archer C1200 router in the basement.

I used to get download speeds of 4 or rarely 5 MB/s on this laptop. Since the fiber was installed, I haven't been able to get anything to download faster than ~2MB/s.

Using the providers network managing app, I see basically all devices are only ever connecting to the pod in the basement, even though the one upstairs is closer.

Is this sort of situation common?

I was thinking of getting a coax to Ethernet adapter so, so as to have a directly wired connection (directly to the router as it has two Ethernet ports) for the upstairs pod, pod has one input and one Ethernet port.

I'm not sure if it's because now the two other cable tv boxes (3 boxes total, one of which is an Ethernet connection from the upstairs pod) have to be connected via wifi as well (as opposed to coax) as everything in the household which always used wifi.

The networking app has the option to change between 'Auto' and 'Router only' mode, not sure if there is a difference in performance or quality between the two.

Everything in my house is working fine but when my son tries to use his Xbox it’s getting a UPnP not available and throwing strict NAT type. Is there a special setting inside my nighthawk RAX120 that would help this issue? I have never had issues before the fiber with his Xbox connecting. The fiber line connects to a little box that I have ran cat 6 from to the back of my nighthawk in the internet port. I didn’t change any of the settings on my router page from what it was before with comcast and I’m curious if different settings need to be changed for fiber? I’ve tried the basic trouble shooting and even port forwarding the Xbox but I can’t get anything to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Download on speedtest.net always tests right, but upload tests like shit, unless I test from my laptop or my boss' Macbook on the same ethernet cable as the desktop testing badly.

It ramps up to full speed for a second then drops to under half.

I have tried:

• Other computers
• Driver updates
• pcie cards
• usb adapters
• testing somewhere else
• connecting the computers up at another premises and testing there(they test fine there)
• cat5 shielded and cat6 cable.
• testing the desktop straight on the fiber ont making it do the authentication.
• lastly, tried the TCP optimizer from speedguide.net

I am somewhat at my wits end here.

Any help would be appreciated.

• safemode with networking
• ubuntu server testing the same
• fresh windows install

I’ve tried several placements of the extended in several rooms but the speed is similar. I’ve checked all 11 channels and found the best one, and there is very little interference. I would expect at least 30mbps speeds, or more optimistically 90-100 but it’s all but unusable.

However, the internet speeds are unusable in my bedroom. My router is located in my living room behind my TV about 20 feet away from my computer's current location. The router is to the right and my bedroom is to the left. So I practically double the distance if I move it to my bedroom and they are on opposite sides of the house.

What I'm asking is if I upgrade my network adapter card (currently an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 with a max speed of 433 Mbps) with one that has higher speeds such as 3000Mbps, would I notice any significant improvement with speeds in my bedroom?

Also, is there anything else I can do to improve the connection? The only network ports I have are in my living room behind the TV so I can't move my router or connect via ethernet.

Tonight my primary internet went out, and it was a tedious process to get the secondary plugged in & running the mesh again. Is there an Ethernet switchover at all? Like, a setup where 2 active internet lines plug into a “splitter” with a button (or something) and one line comes out of it, into my Orbi. And in a perfect world, all I’d have to do is press the button to crossover to the secondary internet when needed. Cables will come from a single hole and go from there to the various cameras, with runs of 25, 50, and 60 feet. I plan to run the cables through the soffits, but don't want to remove any more panels than is necessary. I've heard of people using an RC car to pull a cable through spaces like that. It's a great modem with a single port that I just plug into my Pfsense router. However, I want to take advantage of the extra 200Mbps. Every modem that has a 2.5Gb port I look at comes with Routers, multiple ports, and Wifi built-in. I had an Arris G36 that I was using before that had a 2.5Gb port, but something was wrong with it as it would randomly drop my connection. Is there any modem out there that just converts without the extra fluff?

We also stream Netflix and other streaming channels in the evening. I live in a condo with an other units in the housing.

Using Speedtest it shows huge latency (500-1000ms) every so often and then I would power cycle the modem and router and all is well again where latency drops down to 15-20ms. I have Xfinity with 200 MBps speeds.

I used to have an Arris SB6141 and bought an Arris S33 hoping to fix the issue but still having issues. I have a Google WiFi as my router connected to my modem with 2 other pucks from 2016 or the one before they were called Google Nest/wifi/home. The pucks are located on my top floor, a side bedroom and one in the basement.

What can I do to prevent myself from having to power cycle my modem literally everyday? Is there a better cost effective router that will reduce latency all together? It seems resetting the modem fixes the issue but that’s annoying to do everyday.
