No, no, no, no, no... surely this is a joke. Don't tell me iPhone are only just getting a basic feature every other phone has had for like a decade.
  • I’m genuinely curious what $150 phone beats a $1,000 iPhone

Answer : not sure what you mean by beat, but if it involves having similar or even better specs then I found 2. Both cost less than $150 where I am. Take a look. I have compared them to iPhone 16 plus which goes for a bit over $1000.

Bonus: you get headphone jack and expandable memory with both.

Lots of bugs/quirks that you just learn to work around, like WiFi randomly dropping so you have to reboot once a day.

Been using the same dirt cheap android for 6 years and never had this issue. Maybe it's just your model? Sure there are bugs in android, but then you can look at all the battery drain issues in literally every iOS upgrade. link

Point is: no phone is bug free

  • Broken thumbnails in lemm.ee?

Is it just on my end? All other instances i have tried (.world, .ml, sh.itjust.works, db0, even hexbear) are displaying thumbnails correctly. I have tried opening lemm.ee in chrome, changing my dns etc.

Anything else I can try? Any help is appreciated.

  • Real talk. I once told some of my friends that I enjoy listening to Arabic Nasheed (this one, specifically) and they FREAKED out. Like, they were convinced I had been indoctrinated into a terrorist group and I would be leaving to fight with them in a few years lol.

  • Talk about an incentive to be on your best behavior.
  • Because even proletariat can have different opinions, I guess? Just look at how many factions there are in communism. Different people have different ideas about what they believe is the best way to implement communism.

    spoiler

I know factions isn't the best word, but I can't think of anything else atm

  • You know I'm tempted to just join hexbear now. I made my account when I didn't know about it and nowadays it's mostly the only instance I browse. Sucks having to log in to my instance, then find the post I was about to comment on AND not even get to natively post amerikkka.

  • Talk about an incentive to be on your best behavior.
  • I think you didn't read the whole comment. My point was that a one party system can't be called a free democracy. While eight other minor parties exist in China, they must

accept the "leading role" of the CCP as a condition of their continued existence

Free democracy is when anybody can make a political party and they have an equal change of winning or losing, ie no 'special privileges' like the CCP has.

Look I know we like to simp for China here on hexbear, but we shouldn't blatantly ignore it's flaws. Anyway hope this answered atleast some of your questions. Peace ✌️

  • Nepal decides to ban TikTok
  • It is in the article.

I read both articles and nowhere does it say "stating that you are poly on social media" is banned. Pretty generic stuff. See for yourself. From the article -

Likewise, people should not post any text, audio, video or picture that spreads hatred against any gender, community, caste, religion, profession, or people from any particular group.

Also banned are actions like distorting a picture, taking photos of private affairs and publishing them without permission.

Similarly, posting vulgar words, pictures, videos, audios, animations, contents promoting paedophilia, sexual exploitation, prostitution, use and trade of narcotic substances, gambling, spreading fake news, distorted information, cyber bullying and terrorism-related contents are prohibited.

Don't get me wrong, I think that "posting vulgar words" is purposefully vague and is most likely intended to be a catch all, but that's not the point. The point is this is not some "overarching censorship" like you make it out to be. Most platforms and governments have policies similar to this. Unless... you have specific examples of Nepal banning people for being "poly on social media".

In other news, Nepal fares better than Qatar, Greece, Singapore and the UAE according to the World Press Freedom Index.

  • In China the proletariat are the ruling class

Slightly unrelated but your comment makes me wonder, are they though? The President of China hasn't changed in ten years and while that in of itself doesn't imply wrongdoing, China DOES have a one party election system. Can we really call that the rule of the working class, or even a free democracy for that matter?

  • During the revolution, could Apple block or tamper with all iphones such that revolutionaries cannot communicate?
  • They're great value for money. However I would recommend you turn off their 'Enhanced Intelligent Services' which is turned on by default.

Enhanced Intelligent Services needs to collect statistics about your unread messages and missed calls, calendar events, and device usage statistics
