The depression sure is great
  • I think the images should be flipped. The first picture made a very strong generation whereas the second side is seriously suffering. How can one not be depressed when none of this is obtainable

  • My answer is responding basic on sociology of religion methods. Your response doesn’t work in the real world. How you define who is following it or not immediately cuts your data is half. Who are you to define who is a true follower or not? That’s not objective. By those standards there are no religious followers in China or Japan. Pew had to consider this when trying to abstract data on this very question there.

  • This line of thinking in American Christianity is certainly one of the many things that made me begin to question it. A similar common sentiment is to love gay people but be radically against them being gay. Which is pretty much saying I don’t support or love you in anyway except if you stop being yourself.

It’s annoying that every event has to have some godly context that some random Christian can easily see.

I’m not an atheist or anti-Christian but these sorts of people also drive me crazy.

  • I disagree. A religion is defined by how it’s lived. A big percentage of Christian’s in America think like that to various degrees.

It is a Protestant ideal to think a religion can be said to be purely what its scripture says but that rarely is how it works in followers’ lives.

That said, no one will disagree with you that this is not a Jesus thing to do. But this is a very Christian thing in the US.

  • Do you encrypt your drives and why or why not?
  • I have not tried any of those three things: TPM, Clevis, or Tang. Thanks for recommending.

    I tried to setup a keyfile on /, /boot, and /root.

    I tried a keyfile on a usb

I also tried to use dropbear to allow ssh unlock.

Sadly these didn’t work and drove me crazy for two nights.

  • How to auto unlock an encrypted drive on start for a fedora server?

I tried added a key file and even a password txt but both lead to it still asking for me to type in the password.

Is it because the drive is encrypted? I tried placing the files at /, /boot, /root, /etc

Edit1: I’ve tried to install dropbear and give it ssh keys. I will try to reboot in the morning and see what happens

Edit2: signing in via ssh just says port 22 rejected not working :(

Edit3: neither dropbear for ssh or keyfile worked. I give up.

It seems some library genesis domains have been taken down so I wanted to share this link with alternative mirrors :)
libgen.onl Library Genesis Proxy Mirror Links: Libgen io, Libgen rs, Libgen is

Library Genesis Mirror Links - List of working Libgen io / Library Genesis Mirror Proxies in 2022: Libgen nl, Libgen rs, Libgen pw, Libgen is, Libgen li

    Libgen.li worked well.

Edit: someone in the comments says restored. I’m on mobile can’t link them

Is there an alternative to the desktop interface beyond CLI?
    m.youtube.com - YouTube

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Found this video interesting and wonder if there are any alternatives within Linux systems

What do you host on your backup servers?

I backup my files via rsync then have some essentially docker containers backed up and running in case the first one goes down :)

Are there any programs to take handwritten material and import it into programs like Memos or Trilium?

I found some that do the opposite, take digital writing and format into a printed list.

Not seeing any comments from my new instance unless it is a reply to me.

It seems to be a similar issue to this: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/106?scrollToComments=true

I see the docs say I need to search for every comment..??? https://join-lemmy.org/docs/administration/federation_getting_started.html

But that doesn't appear to be how it works on other posts.

If I want to mod communities is it best to run them on big instances or my personal instances?

I don’t want any users on my instances but I would like to have the freedom to choose how to run a community.
