  • This is the goal. I just need a lot of money, it's not cheap to live light in this country

  • Not a leftie, but D) Spouse of a citizen should be a citizen. How is this even a fucking question.

  • Ofc not, I'm asking why they didn't just release a collection like Sega did, or like Nintendo has done in the past.
Releasing a "classics" collection in the first few months of the switch would have been such an easy move.

Though, contextually (and more importantly), pointing out that the switch 2 doesn't just have to compete against a similar device with a mammoth array of games... but one with all of nintendo's games, too.

  • It varies from game to game, as you'd expect. I can play pokemon multi-player without requiring a link cable, for example, but I can't speak to other games I haven't played much (like smash brothers or mariokart). If you mean games in general on the steamdeck, I find gog games and randos like Doom and Diablo multiplayer works just fine.

  • But it's impossible for a human on the internet to like more than 1 thing at a time!

  • You very politely missed the #1 point... I can already play every single nintendo game I've ever bought on my steamdeck. Right now. With no subscription, just simply uploading from my GBA/DS/3DS/Switch to my Steamdeck... Nintendo for reasons completely lost to me refuses to allow that. Like, wth are they even doing over there to not have solved that issue day 1 on the switch.

  • Finding books. I have no idea why I do that, when there's a bookstore I really enjoy right across the lot from me, but i'll literally browse book reviews for 30 mins before wandering over there and just... buying whatever looks good.

Total waste of time, I didn't value the opinions of the reviewers in the first place, and the process is always inconclusive.

  • I just went with independent, which removes me from the "primaries", but also removed me from all the non-stop text messages and phone calls begging for money to support a party that does little more than shrug non-committaly.
So, no? I'm from the US, I don't really get a choice in ISP, phone network, or political representative, but boy I sure do get to pick from a number of different cereals.

I am more active at the very local level, though, which seems to be the only place an individual can have impact.

  • Stuff like this is why I left the dem party, they're only strong opponents to progressives, not conservatives. The best summary I ever saw of them was: GOP: "fascism" DNC: "fascism ✨🏳️‍🌈"

  • I find there's a lot of reddit here (good and bad), but the vinyl and CD communities are probably nicer (if less busy). The rest, well, vary :D

  • I believe this states the take many have - much like nobody batted an eye about auto-contrast, content-aware fill, or line smoothing. They weren't trying to replace humans with programs, weren't causing huge environmental impact, and weren't trained on stolen content. It's the ham-handed implementation that most are opposed to, combined with the obnoxious techbro mentality.

  • Fuck AI @lemmy.world

Haven't seen this on here yet - humans don't require computers to create art... Art is inherent in us.

  • What "kickstart"? The fediverse isn't a commercial venture. If we can connect with our friends and interests, it's already "working". I find fantastic new people here all the time, doing really niche stuff I'd never find on a platform focused on appealing to everyone.

If "99%" of people aren't on it, that's perfectly acceptable, and just makes it easier for the ones on it to find and talk to their friends. I don't think we need or want the vast torrent of spammers, downvote bots, and "influencer" types who use whatever gives them clicks.

  • I was told something like this about an article I was pointing out wasn't on page 1 of google, but was on virtually all other engines. "Unless it's page 1 of google nobody cares"

And all I can say is "who cares? those aren't the people it's for"

  • This feels like clickbait - I find it hard to believe the writers of this piece are unaware of the protests. The better question, perhaps, is "why does media refuse to cover the protests", and the answer to that is obvious - the media (damn near all of it) is controlled by the very oliarchs we're protesting.

  • Considering it's shipped by default on the fedi, on ghost, discourse, bsky and loads of other very hot upcoming and established tools, it's very much alive. Just because xitter and facebook and google failed to find a way to monetize it and therefore tried to kill it doesn't make it dead.

  • I'm a huge fan of RSS, it's how I get 90% of my media now.

  • I believe my first impressions of bsky when it finally opened was "oh, it's like twitter from 2006. but why?"

I know so many people flocking to it, and I'm just not getting it.

  • Can't think of any times when "undesireables" have been sent to prisons/gulags in other countries. Nope. Nothing springs to mind...
