I totally like the energy, but there is no proof these are valid elections. The democrats in Texas consistently underperform against polls.
If this was a real democracy there would be proof.
While I do get it few here think this is an issue. There would be rioting in France should these same standards show up there.
Elected representatives can fight, yes.
I don’t think the election of the at least some of representatives by the people are above board. But the winners can do things others can’t.
Don’t think far right can be resisted statewide at all times. Too far gone.
But holding actions would be good to buy some time
That seems like good news in that this may block some harmful legislation!
I’m out of the loop here, how will this affect Texas?
I just assume things cannot be controlled, there is no direction, and the majority of the human race will be swimming in lies, disinformation and cat memes fur generations
Permanently Deleted
I guess all the corruption and moral collapse allows me, who has absolutely no clue about law, to actually have educated guesses how important cases are voted.
I simply ask myself “how would a bad person decide?”
I think they make memes now
This is the way
Left and right, particularly in American politics, are very wishy washy ( definitions easily changed).
The politics have drifted rightwards ( the Overton Window) in the USA the last two generations.
A hard core American socialist these days is more like mildly leftist when compared to different places and times.
Often, in lemmy and other fringe media, this is the first exposure many mainstream Americans get to the real left. And I have to say, having been in the 1970s, most of this left here is cozy and mild and nonviolent compared to what it can become.
I see lots of money changing hands. Think about it, all the hidden and semi legal scams can now be done in the open.
Democrats should be thanking their gop colleagues more
When I was their age, to send a text message we would write it on paper, tie it around a rock and throw it through their window.
Or, prop it next to their door, depending on feelings.
Edit: typos, in the old days we would throw another rock
There used to be an independent press filled with small time newspapers, they could do stuff like this.. without being arrested or investigated
The fact they both sided this, and feel very strongly about people reacting to it, months later… raises questions about motive and belief.
I’m not here to judge or criticize, that much. But it was very uncomfortable for me to read that and see some comments concerning it.
Too much drama here
Maybe a little of each scenario, either way people loose
After reading that, I suppose the WP is to Bezos as Twitter is to Musk.
It’s ok to run it into the ground, it’s a tool. The institutions will probably even survive
It’s more of a lifestyle choice
It might be more than just being assholes; this could be a step towards attacking the ICC in ways that truly undermine international law.
Just because the USA is not a member does not mean it can’t make things more difficult.
But chaos in government… probably forgotten later
Has anyone ever ignored 15,000 doctors until now?
I’m trying to look at it optimistically: these companies could pay a hundred times that, even more. I’m thinking it’s good the entry fee for this new corruption is currently low
