For the love of garage: urbanist boogyman question
  • I worked with a guy who banned together with a few of his college friends and made a sort of communal maker space. They rented a space, each had their own area and supplied the space with various tools that the others could use. They would occasionally rent out space for someone to come make something using their tools and sometimes experience. This would subsidize the rent for them to have space in which they could do as they please.

This is a relatively common practice within the art world (they were furniture makers/designers) but I don't see why this wouldn't be just as if not more productive with a bunch of engineers. I also have often seen companies grow out of such arrangements. You share a space, start working collaboratively, and before you know it you've got a shared product to sell.

The other added benefit is there's always someone around to help you unload, setup and be excited about that CNC you found.

  • What movie did you watch as I kid which you shouldn't have?
  • Watched old horror movies all the time with my grandfather growing up. None of that was scary. Watching Chuckey when I was probably 8 with my brother was terrifying. Didn't help we had one of those big my buddy type dolls in the house. I think I was Chuckey for Halloween that year.

  • How can I drill a hole into a large workpiece at an exact angle?
  • I have this exact tool, and just as a warning, it is far from perfect but it does certainly help and I've used it for many things but if precision is what you're looking for you might be better off buying a higher quality one or a chuck and building one at the angle you need.

Milescraft makes a slightly better one and then there's the rockler one but you know, you get what you pay for.

  • Did you guys know anyone who went to that cringe 6k for two days star wars hotel at Disney world?
  • I'm confused why this is your response to my comment. The whole point was that two older ladies that could give a fuck about star wars enjoyed a free 3 night stay at a supposedly 5 star resort with some extra BS included.

  • Did you guys know anyone who went to that cringe 6k for two days star wars hotel at Disney world?
  • My aunt works for a Disney subsidiary and got 2 free tix for they're soft launch so she took my mom. It was 3 days and the whole package. Neither of them are particularly into star wars but did love the experience, probably mostly because of the free part.

They did thoroughly enjoy the experience though, they made a BB8 for one of my nieces and both made their own light sabers which she loves to pull out on special occasions, like making the neighborhood kids jealous. It looked fun but definitely not 3k a night fun.

  • I wonder what the marketing pitch was for Uncrustables
  • It was made by 2 North Dakota dads at the request of their wives. It took just a couple of years for the idea to take off, marketing the product to scools. It was then sold to Smuckers in 2003. So the pitch probably went something like, "you two are inventors, can't you make this easy sandwich.... easier?"

  • Martin Shkreli Accused of Copying and Sharing One-Of-a-Kind Wu-Tang Album in New Lawsuit
  • My guy, you don't have to go so hard. All I was trying to say is if you listen to their music you'll find that their whole shtick and major inspiration is kung fu movies. Many of the samples in their songs are from old kung fu movies.

  • cow's rule
  • I believe, based only on my knowledge of breast milk and having done no reading on turning into cheese, that this is because it has lipase enzymes that break down the fats for the baby making digestion easier. I'm guessing you'd want the opposite for cheese production.

I have read a little bit about making whipped cream out of it though.

  • Manipulation
  • That's the fun part! Factoid kind of became a factoid (I know there's an actual etymological term for this but I can't remember it) I believe its original definition was an assumption thats circulated enough its assumed as fact. ie many "wives tales" But now the definition you gave has been assumed so much it has become fact! See? Fun!
