  • I always figured the playbook was something like:

    1. Cut staffing (and save $$$)
    2. Shrinkage increases due to fewer staff
    3. Construct a narrative around rising crime, of which locking up products is a part
    4. Get more cops

Congratulations, you've successfully shifted costs of protecting your property on the public!

  • The remake. While I do think it pushed the art too far in the direction of "generic mario", there are so many other things better about the remake:

    • updated music is fantastic
    • lots of QoL improvements, like better item management and mechanics that make battles go faster
    • Updated localization, mostly for the better (though I do miss Mallow telling Mario "who do you think you are, Bruce Lee!?")
  • I've seen a small business where the owner was Chinese add eighty-eight cents to every price, I figured it was just an "eight is a lucky number, especially for money" thing. The fact that there are so many other 8's here makes me wonder if it's something like that.

I would honestly find it more

if it was JUST 1488 and all the other prices were normal.

  • Yup, this is how I use it. Left trigger is Z, Right trigger doesn't exist in N64 so it becomes a context button to turn ABXY into the appropriate C buttons. Right stick is also C for games where the C buttons work like a camera. Using the context button takes a bit of learning, but I like that this approach leaves buttons in roughly the same place (i.e. not mapping any face buttons to shoulders or triggers)

  • I will always maintain that Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts was a good game, and would have been received much better if it just wasn't marketed as a Banjo-Kazooie game. Nuts & Bolts walked so Tears of the Kingdom could run.
