Mental hell
  • Fair enough, in that case it definitely wouldn't be worth it. And yeah the independence and cool project aspects of the PhD are appealing, but it really does suck ass and ruin you mentally for a long period of time until you finally achieve your goal (failing is also a possibility)

Best of luck, I hope you're able to find a position

  • Mental hell
  • What's your field? People love talking shit about getting a PhD and that they're pointless, but in some fields they're essential for career growth.

Source: got MSc, got job, saw that career would be hampered by not having PhD. Went back and got PhD, got great job, huge salary increases on the horizon

  • Google pulls the plug on uBlock Origin, leaving over 30 million Chrome users susceptible to intrusive ads
  • Being able to cast seamlessly from Chrome to Chromecast is the only major issue I've had since switching to Firefox. It's possible with Firefox and it works 99% of the time but it feels a little clunky. Completely worth it though overall and not a dealbreaker

  • What’s the worst piece of technology you’ve ever owned?
  • 100%.

I'm constantly seeing the same items with different branding all at a similar price point - it's all AliExpress garbage. And if the AliExpress version suits your needs you're better off ordering from AE directly as it's significantly cheaper. AE shipping speeds have improved over the years too, I've gotten items within 1 week several times now

  • What’s the worst piece of technology you’ve ever owned?
  • I wonder if we had the same dehumidifier. Same 800 sq ft claim, except it didn't produce ice because it couldn't pull enough moisture out of the air to do so despite it being ~80% humidity in my apartment.

After a night of running at full blast, I woke up and poured out a whopping 10 mL of water from the basin

  • Responsible guidance is a choice
  • Agreed. When I'm cooking with bacon I'll save the grease and use it if that singular meal requires any additional pan frying, otherwise I toss it cause I don't need to be ingesting all that grease on the regular
