A lot of networks were designed with ipv4 and NAT in mind. There really isn’t a cost benefit to migrate all your DHCP scopes, VLANs, Subnets, and firewall rules to IPv6 and then also migrate 1000’s of endpoints to it.
Much cheaper to just disable ipv6 entirely on the internal network (to prevent attacks using a rogue dhcpv6 server etc) and only use ipv6 on your WAN connections if you have to use it.

Well said, while I think there a probably caveats (that I don’t have the energy to debate since I mostly agree with you anyway) to each of your solutions, it’s definitely a good starting place to address the underlying issues with the housing market for single family homes
Giving first time home buyer’s assistance just juices demand which would just lead to further increased housing prices.
The supply side is what needs to be addressed, that’s a lot harder though as builders would prefer to build luxury housing as opposed to starter homes.
If a company could pay $5 a customer for a competitive edge in customer satisfaction over their competitors, they would. Either they are getting way more than that or there is some cartel/monopoly action going on in the market. Maybe they are playing the long game to introduce an ad free model at a premium.

From what I can see, people will downvote shitposts even if they agree with it. But the downvote is used as the disagree button the majority of the time.
I will upvote any comment that seems to be made in good faith but I don’t have any illusions of that being how the majority of the network uses their votes. I think a higher percentage of people use their vote that way compared to Reddit but not much to make a difference.
That’s why I suggested hiding votes entirely. I think that would be unpopular because people like the dopamine hit of seeing your comment score go up, and so my compromise was to only hide 0 or negative scores.
It’s more of a vibe check than a fact check. But I think it’s definitely useful for the network to self moderate since mods are pretty much entirely voluntary on Lemmy.
I’m of the opinion that downvotes are useful for self moderation of troll/off-topic comments or posts.
People also use it as a disagree button. That use doesn’t bother me personally but I see a lot of users get upset about having a negative score on a comment.
I think the best method is to keep the votes and either hide the score total or to not visibly show any score that’s less than 1
I’ve already seen admins go through the federated votes on their instance to call out anyone who disagrees with them.
I don’t have a strong opinion either way but I don’t think it will be healthy for discourse to unlock that power for everyone

Use hashtags that are fairly active. You can search for them before posting to get an idea which ones to use. Even if your toot doesn’t have a good active hashtag, post it. People will check your profile before following and are more likely to follow accounts that are interesting and active.
Also consider posting just for yourself. Thoughts you want to note for later, things you found interesting and want to go back to. You likely aren’t going to get a huge amount of followers on the fedi unless you are well known unless you start following A LOT of people and you give them a reason to follow you back

I ended up getting stuck trying to get the bird key. I could not figure out how to get the flying rooster. I tried bombing the weather cock, lifting the weather cock, pulling, using the hook shot, using the magic rod, digging every tile in mabe village, getting the boomerang, giving back the boomerang, tried every key item I could think of. I ended up beating level 8 before level 7. I even made this map of the entire game in google sheets to try to figure it out.

I hope a little self promotion is ok. Thanks to all of your help a few weeks ago, I was able to get an RSS feed set up for my blog. For reasons I still don't fully understand, a year and a half ago, when I moved my personal website from github and Azure App Services to Google Sites; I decided to just hack Google Sites into a blog rather than do the logical thing and start a blog on Wordpress or Blogger.
As I was documenting the process of hosting a feed using Google Drive and automating it with Google Apps Script, I decided to turn it into a full blog post on the journey I took to get things working.
If you do have some morbid curiosity on the actual steps to take to host, automate, and update RSS using Google Apps, I do have a full guide with instructions but can't say I recommend doing things this way to anyone but the truly delusional.

Lemmy.world finally updated to v19 and I see that I have the option to do scaled sort. Typically I sort by “Top 6 hour”, “Top 12 hours”, and then “Active”.
None of these options are really like the old “Hot” sort on Reddit. So how does the scaled sort work? Is anyone who has been on v19 a while using it much?
I've never dealt with RSS before on a personal level. I've pretty much always used social media to discover blog posts. I'm wanting to set up RSS for my personal blog but since I have no experience, looking for some guidance for best practices. I'm currently setting up a script to automatically update the xml when I publish new posts.
Am I supposed to include the entire post in the description field? Or just a summary? How do I handle the markup and formatting of the post?
Am I supposed to delete items from the feed or do I just keep appending items to the bottom of it?

As a big Zelda hater as a kid, I skipped the series completely. I’ve been going through to experience them all in order now. I really enjoyed the first two games of the series so I expected to like this one too. What I didn’t expect is was that it really is one of the best games on the Super Nintendo if not one of the best games of all-time.
We recently subscribed to AppleTV+ (you get a pretty decent trial from just download the app on a playstation by the way). And are looking for exclusives to watch on the service. Of course everyone recommends Ted Lasso and we have started that. My wife, has already watched through "The Morning Show" and liked it.
