Corbyn had more left-wing positions, but he lost two elections, so I think Starmer realised that a more centrist position would give Labour a better chance of becoming the government.
I guess I'm just saying that it could be worse. If Sunak had won the 2024 election then the country would probably have experienced more managed decline.
I think it would be good to try and boost the UK's tech sector, and use that sector to help the country in various ways. But I think everybody knows that AI is a bit of a tired meme at the moment.
We need a good economy so we can afford things like the NHS, but yes the economy ideally would benefit every Brit, rather than just a few rich people.
True, they probably don't want more aggravation, but they may well be open to closer co-operation on defence for example, which the article mentions.
The UK doesn't need to necessarily jump straight back into EU membership. There are other ways we can work together with Europe. Maybe at some point the UK government will consider rejoining the EU customs union and/or single market.
I wonder if Brits will campaign for another referendum on EU membership in the next few years. At the moment I think there is fatigue around the subject, but there are still many Brits who want to be in the EU.
It certainly looks like that, but I still like it
True. For my next phone I'm looking at how long security updates are promised for, so I can get something with long-term support.
Male loneliness has probably always been a thing. Lonely men were expected to work difficult jobs, or fight in wars for kings, or just kill themselves.
Some women would have experienced similar issues, along with probably greater rates of sexual abuse, etc.
I think there have always been quite a few people with shit lives throughout history; it's just that society doesn't want to acknowledge these people. People who are doing fine in life want to pretend that life is fair, when actually it isn't.
For me the most important reason to upgrade things is security updates. E.g. if you have an old smartphone it might not get security updates anymore.
Some people don't seem to care, but I get paranoid about hackers breaking into my phone in some way.
I see, Samsung is mentioned in that article. Like I said, I think that is obviously bad, but it's probably not as bad as somebody dying.
I guess it's because many young adults move far away from home to get jobs in cities.
In the past young adults probably would have stayed living near their family, so they could see them easily.
Do you have a reputable source showing that Samsung phones, for example, are made with slave labour?
If they are then that would obviously be very bad, although I'm not sure it's as bad as somebody dying (like in OP's dilemma).
Brexit may have made life more difficult for many British people, but hey, at least the passports are blue now.
(In case you don't know, British passports were dark red when we were in the EU - in keeping with other EU passports - and when Britain left the EU, the government decided to make passports blue like they were in the olden days, because they thought this would appeal to boomers)
Ethernet is obviously better but running ethernet around your home can be a pain in the arse
I miss Maplin, I still use stuff I bought from there
I'm not sure if he's claiming that Brexit is the reason for EU troubles, but I dunno because I haven't listened to the full interview (which is here, but I think you need to be in the UK to listen to it)
Maybe he's referring to the political troubles in Germany and France - the governments of both countries have collapsed recently
Great post. Happy Holidays You Bastard by blink-182 is a classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KYOAw47O-I
I'm not saying you do. I don't use Twitter anymore. What I was trying to say is that I find the state of the world worrying.
