I don't know much about this situation, but it sounds like the reporting agencies took away debt under $500, but the new ban is for any medical debt, not just the debt under $500.

Why not use the 2-3 seconds to put your item in the bag? Solves your conveyor problem and your waiting problem.

My approach would be to get a tube of silicone caulk that handles a decent range of temps and a length of hose that fits over the tip of the tube to reach under if the caulk won't reach on its own.
