Just Stop Oil activists throw soup at Van Gogh’s Sunflowers after fellow protesters jailed
  • I see your point, I do. But I also see theirs. There will be no one around in the future to enjoy or make art if we continue fucking up the world with fossil fuels the way we are.

Maybe it'd be better to walk around posting little signs on the paintings descriptions with a catch phrase like "like art? Stop fossil fuels" then a little blurb about how there'll be no art in the future if there is no future.

That's probably how I'd handle it, maybe even try to work with the museum so the signs wouldnt get taken down. But, that doesn't get media attention. It'd never end up in the news. Maybe after contacting 50 museums it'd get a small mention, but ultimately no one would care.

Our current news cycles don't encourage people to act civilly when trying to be heard. So that's why this sort of extreme behavior keeps happening. It's a vicious feedback loop and just like climate change we don't seem to be making any moves to stop it.

  • Proof that humans can get used to pretty much anything
  • No, I just keep them in a clean spot and they last about a week before they start looking dingy. Then I use a new pair.

I don't get a lot of earwax though so someone who's ears make more will probably have to change them more frequently.

  • Teach the children.
  • Companies make way more money shoveling ads down our throats than they ever will from subscriptions. That's why subscriptions services end up having ads anyway... or doing things like Netflix whos offering a cheaper subscription that serves ads.

We'll never get companies to get away from ad revenue. It too easy of a way to make money.

  • TIL it’s the right of women of all ages to go topless wherever men can in the states of Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas and Oklahoma, including all their cities.
  • Women are allowed to walk around in sandals and no shoes at the beach despite foot fetishes being one of the most common paraphilias(behind breasts.)

You don't see women getting accosted by guys who like feet because they have their toes out and it's sexual to some guy nearby.

If dudes into feet can control themselves and be respectful then so can dudes into breasts when they are near a top less woman in public.

  • I love people with kids who are oblivious they're shitty parents.
  • It's not like she's asking for breast implants or liposuction(or something else that is not reconstructive in nature). It's lasik, and it'll help her quality of life, no more worrying about breaking her glasses or losing contacts.

We dont know if she works in special ed where getting hit in the face could be a normal occurance for her. Maybe she struggles with contacts. Either way there are a lot of reasons for someone to want to go that route.

Also, comparing lasik to something like nonreconstructive cosmetic surgery is disingenuous. One is completely for aesthetics, the other affects function.

  • TIL it’s the right of women of all ages to go topless wherever men can in the states of Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas and Oklahoma, including all their cities.
  • I always look at it this way.... being into feet is one of the most common paraphilias(other than breasts) that people can have.

If folks into feet can control themselves in summertime when barefeet and sandals are common, then people into boobs can control themselves when they see female nipples out.

I also agree that we need to desexualize the nude human body outside of sexual contexts. I went to a classical art school where we would draw from live nude models for 8 hours a day.

How quickly you get used to nude bodies is kind of impressive, and the men in class didn't turn into sex crazed animals when we had nude female models. The folks into penises didn't become possessed with lust over the nude male models. Everything went professionally as it should. So people can in fact handle nude bodies with maturity when they want to.

Its just most people dont want to... for some reason.

  • A dramatic rise in pregnant women dying in Texas after abortion ban
  • Reckless endangerment and manslaughter.

They were warned that women would die due these laws and they didn't listen. They recklessly put those laws there and people died... resulting in manslaughter.

I'd prefer homicide too, but I feel like manslaughter charges would stick better because you don't have to prove intent, just that someone died because of their actions.

  • A dramatic rise in pregnant women dying in Texas after abortion ban
  • I've literally heard religious people say that women are supposed to be willing to die for their babies. If a woman wants to live and aborts a septic pregnancy she's a bad, immoral person.

It's super fucked up how much conviction they have when they say it too. Women are basically just a disposable womb to them. I always feel gross when I'm near someone saying that kind of shit.

  • Do remote workers actually work? Yes, but they also shop and shower
  • If they're mad about people shopping while working from home I have bad news.

People shop from their phones while working at the job site too. I see several of my coworkers doing this frequently. Shit, I've done it.

Sure, we can't shower on site unless you're a firefighter or something, or have a gym at workplace, but still.

Employers need to reign in their power hungry bullshit. You don't own your employees, and if the work is getting done on time, you have nothing to complain about.

  • rabioli
  • I guess all those things are worse than your pet getting West Nile disease, rabies, distemper, or any of the various diseases pets can get.

Some horse people have stopped giving their horses vaccines because " Wild horses don't need them"(wild horses don't live as long dumbfuck) and west nile is going rampant. Seeing a horse with west Nile so bad they need to be euthanized is not something I'd wish on anyone. It goes neurological in them and causes loss of coordination and seizures.

  • Sometimes the grass is greener
  • I'm a woman who buys my tshirts in the men's section because all women's shirts have become crop tops, or are too low cut to wear to work, or too tight fitting to be comfortable. It looks like we have a lot of options, but I think it's more like we have a lot of non utilitarian options. Like a bunch of clothes you can't do anything in. Like go hiking, or bend over to pick up something you dropped without exposing yourself.

I can get a men's tshirt at target that fits exactly how I want it to(not too short, my boobs aren't hanging out, not too baggy either) for about $8-$10. A women's 'tshirt' will cost $15 plus and have all the issues I mentioned before.

But then again I guess the grass is always greener right?

  • Why haven't you done this yet too?
  • A few of the horses I cared for at the barn I used to work at refused eat those electrolytes in their grain, or drink it if I mixed it into their water.

If horses don't really like it I can't imagine humans fairing much better.

  • EU recommends outdoor ban on cigarettes, e-cigarettes and heated tobacco.
  • It's not a competition, but priorities. The things that kill innocent people should be higher on the list when writing new policies. Clearly the policies in place are not enough to prevent drunk driving and people are still getting killed from it. It's still a problem and has been a problem and we should focus on that more than we currently are.

If people are still driving drunk with it being illegal and we can't even get that under control with current laws, how can we expect the new laws regarding vaping to be productive?

And tbh this is quite personal. I've lost a friend to drunk driving about every 2 years since I turned 18. My friend's alcoholic father murdered him when I was younger. I've seen nothing good come from that shit and it destroys lives. I don't see vaping as even remotely comparable to the destruction alcohol can do.

  • EU recommends outdoor ban on cigarettes, e-cigarettes and heated tobacco.
  • I'd rather be near someone vaping than a drunk person.

The vaping I can walk away from, but a drunk driver could kill me.

I find public drunkenness to be more deadly and problematic than vaping, but that just my opinion regarding public health issues.
