self deprecating humor is supposed garner laughs by exposing relatable vulnerabilities that people can laugh about. It is not supposed to actually make you a loser everyone is just laughing at.
It has been a long time since most of those places have been cold enough, long enough, to have a lake become that solidly frozen. It has been 30+ years since I have seen this happen in the mid atlantic.
A law doesn't have to be effective for its stated purpose. If the law allows them to have more control over the internet, bypass rights, etc. it is an effective law for them.

If you have been watching, the courts have been making rulings to liberalize gun ownership, and carry/use laws. Simultaneously they have been making rulings that have been making it easier, and easier, for cops to basically use this liberal state of gun rights as a reason to treat everyone as a lethal threat, and basically disregard a lot of your rights, like the 4th, and 5th, if they even think you have a gun. There is a blanket reason to disregard constitutional protections being crafted here.
The peak happened 2 years after the release, a period where they saw a massive growth as their incomplete game hit, and then saturated it's market. The majority of the decline is being blamed on the unexpectedly high costs of the the phantom liberty DLC, and the studio's backlash to the first release's crunch culture. CP2077 coming out incomplete didn't sway their customer base, leading to investors backing off. The cost of the follow-up caused investor stress, especially because of the internal strife of crunch culture, which lead to major parts of their dev teams leaving to be competition. This is what has lead investors to cash out, and thus devalue their stock. It wasn't the incomplete game release that rocketed them to all time highs. That move saw crazy successful sales.
That is the lesson their investment board learned. It caused strife in the company because of the divide it showcased between those who made the company, and those who own it.
And every person in a comment section saying "don't feed the troll" are probably far worse at spotting trolls than they would like to think.

neither do I, there really isn't a real left in the US. However the online influence pipeline for the left has a lot of authoritarians, which is similar to the problem the right fash pipeline creates. Whether or not there will be a true left in office with population enough to truly do something, and not just beef up liberal voting, we shall see.
I don't know of elected officials, however, on lemmy, there are a lot of authoritarian left wing groups. There are a lot of anti-authoritarian ones too, but the authoritarians are very loud, and abrasive, because authoritarians operate via force.

Posting garbage simply because it shits on the party they have a deep bias against, doesn't mean you are actually countering some narrative, garbage is garbage, be it pro democrat, pro gop, whatever.
The daily mail, NY Post, The militant. This makes up most of what you have been posting. daily, and post, are barely outside of being tabloids. While I have some respect for the SWP, and generally support them because there is so little actual leftist stuff in the US, the militant has a history of posting unsourced claims, straight up stuff that is wrong, and, while I can understand the desire for anonymity for the owners of a leftist circulation in the US, the lack of transparency is always suspect. While you can't really just trust news, you can at least not primarily post the bottom feeders.
