Yes. The acronym stands for Human Resources and it'd be a stretch to think they consider us human!
Jokes aside, I actually really liked most of the leadership at that company. I really only disliked the CEO and HR director.
It was crazy. What made it worse was that I didn't even report it...my friend was so upset about it, he told his boss.
When the HR director asked me what I wanted to happen to the girl, I told her NOTHING. I don't want her fired or anything, I don't even work directly with her. Then she asked why, if I didn't want anything to happen, I reported it? BITCH I DIDN'T I was going to find a new job and move the fuck on with my life
Photos never do it justice. I was blown away by the cherry blossoms when I saw them
A coworker drunkenly made out with my face at a work event and HR tried to send me to a sexually harassment seminar so I could "learn what sexually assault really is"
Another great quote from that meeting: "if you knew she was a sloppy drunk, why were you hanging out with her?"
HR is there to protect the company - not you
Pearson's software looks and feels ancient, why wouldn't their security be the same?
It usually takes a couple of "tracks" to notice but the thing that usually makes it obvious to me is how homogenous it all is. AI can't make a good hook or a catchy tune, it just approximates song structure and spits out a boring average
My stored collection is mostly FLAC, ain't no way I'm archiving youtube-quality audio lol
Plus half the appeal of using YouTube is discovering new artists! I listen to 5-10 new (to me) albums a week.
In the fictional world that this story takes place in, the conversation wouldn't happen at all
That is the most made-up exchange I've ever heard. Has this guy ever talked to a conservative about this stuff??
The person complaining wouldn't agree that kids shouldn't be hungry, they'd complain about the kid's parents not working hard enough.
I use YouTube for music 8+ hours a day at work (usually full albums) and it was extremely obnoxious when it started happening.
The way around this for 95% of published albums is to not use user-created playlists. When you search for an album, YouTube usually shows it to you on the right side of the results. Click that instead.
A much bigger (imo) problem is the prevalence of AI albums. I hate when they auto play.
Interest rates peaked in '81 at 18% and yes that brings it closer to today's % of income...but it plummeted within a few years.
And housing/mortgage stuff isn't the only part in this equation - the bottom 90% of the country has been getting significantly less for their labor since Reagan. Money is hoarded and wages have not kept up with inflation
That just adds to my point? It doesn't matter why it happened, housing is significantly more expensive compared to income. But since you brought it up, let's do the math.
$15,000 average salary, single income, $37,000 house. That's about 30 months salary.
$55,000 average salary, dual income ($110,000), $420,000 house. That's 45 months salary. With both people working.
So....yeah, seems like "the basics" are a lot harder to achieve nowadays than they were in the 80s.
Today is September 11574, 1993
It was kind of a breeze in comparison to now, no? My dad bought his first house for $37,000 when the average salary was $15,000. I just bought a house and couldn't find one within an hour for under $420,000... The average salary around here is apparently $55,000
You're not wrong but what does Russia have to do with anything here?
I tried so hard to get into kale. It's so affordable and good for you....the perfect food....if it tasted good to me...
I love my dad but I don't engage with him seriously about politics anymore. Specific facts don't matter, he only cares about "the big picture"....so instead of of arguing, I give him the even bigger picture: none of this shit matters. It's all a distraction while they rob us blind.
My dad was going off about trans kids in sports so I asked him....is this really how you want your tax dollars spent? Fightings to keep a handful of kids from playing college sports?
"Yeah, well I, uh, it's just not fair to the other athletes!"
I hate driving so much, I moved somewhere 15 minutes from work even though I only go in like 3 times a month
Is there a way to locally archive an entire Twitter account, replies included?
Struggling to remember the name of a British actor/comedian(?) who was once featured in a music video. Help me out?
Over the hills and far away, Teletubbies have come to.....play...
Let's say you just won the lottery (in the US). What is the smartest way to give money to your friends?
