Dull Men's Club
- Make sure to visit the real Dull Men's Club website!
This is a tad embarrassing. You see, I thought that I was merely copying a popular Facebook group. I was unaware that Dull Men's Club was an official club. Please give the site a peruse as it is quite a delight!
- I got a parking ticket.
I was supposed to move my car last night but I forgot. The ticket is for $65 but I found a dollar on the ground near my car so I'm actually only out $64.
I set an alarm in my calendar so I won't forget next time.
- Cleaned all my footwear
Took a long time to clean. They were pretty filthy since they were neglected for quite sometime.
- I went for a haircut, and ended up getting the deluxe treatment
I went for a haircut today. My usual barbershop has closed down, the owner retired, and the guy who did me went to another shop, that was closed today. So I went to a new place. I only asked for the usual, #4 buzz cut on the head and #3 on beard, but nobody else was in the place, and they ended doing everything they have: buzz cut, razor around the edges, hot towels, neck massage. Almost an hour in the chair.
Felt a little hustled, but it was not that much, and I did not say no to anything. I think it was a promo by the shop owner, they want me to come back. I will be in front of a lot of people next week, so does not hurt to look as good as possible, and I did enjoy it. Probably won't do it all the time, though.
- I bought a juice with a mushed in spout; at home I popped it back out
That’s right it’s perfectly acceptable.
- It snowed a lot yesterday night, and this morning, I took an hour to clear the snow in and around my car today.
Also, since it was very slippery outside, two or three lorries was getting a tow on the other side of the main road, I spoke to a friend about that while passing the site, making a mental note to take a different road back. I then forgot that note...
- Planted a couple seeds today
Poppy, lettuce and dwarf sunflower.
It's summer here and I hope this time it works. Last half a dozen things I planted never started growing, I think I'm watering the seeds too much.
- We found a new show called All Creatures Great and Small
It's about some veterinarians in the 30's. It's slow, doesn't have any sex, violence, or profanity. It's wholesome. It's filmed in the absolutely gorgeous Yorkshire Dales. We love it and have already watched 2.5 seasons in 3 nights.
- I grilled some chicken earlier and now I'm eating a salad with it
Also has croutons and baby bella mushrooms. Shredded carrots. Lots of green peppers. I like green peppers.
- need to buy new smoke detectors
My smoke detectors have been chirping for a while. I checked the 9v battery with the multimeter to see if they died. Nope, still good I checked the detector's sticker on the back and saw it was made in 2003. They're 20 years old now and I guess no longer good. So, I ordered a new pack of hardwired interconnect detectors.
- Our stupid Samsung refrigerator ice maker is broken.
I looked into fixing it and it'll cost almost $300. I refuse to spend any money to fix a stupid Samsung. So, my wife wants a new refrigerator made by an actual reputable appliance company, but I don't want to spend $3000. So we just live without ice, and I anticipate this will be our life until the refrigerator stops working completely.
- I work my puzzles during the commercials
My wife likes to watch live sports on TV. During the commercial breaks I do word puzzles on my phone. She doesn't mind.
- I'm cleaning my daughter's freezer, the song playing is "Well, well, well" by 'Yes', and I take 5 for lemmy...
I love synchronicity with music.
- Cleaned the bathroom with new cleaning tools
Bought some soft wash brushes that fit on a electric drill. Cleaned the bathroom with it. It was so fast and easy that my knees and back didn't start hurting. I like a clean bathroom.
- I fixed up the living room wall
It's been bothering me for a while, we've had some drywall anchors in the wall that was used by the previous owners.
There was also some general scuff marks and stuff
So I removed the anchors, patched the drywall, sanded it, patched it again, sanded again, cleaned and painted
Now it looks like they were never there
- My Trainer asked if we could do 3 days in a row this week
I said yes, and now on day 3... every single part of my body aches at the same time.
She brought the inbody 270s body composition scanner today but forgot the power cord, I have a entire cabinet of barrel plugs and was able to find a match (12v 3a).
Someone left their glasses at the gym, and they didn't come to pick them up while I was there.
- Sharpened the kitchen knives this evening.
Last year I bought a knife sharpening set for the first time and it made a world of difference. This year I'm trying to establish an annual sharpening to keep them nice and sharp.
- My dishwasher is a cupboard for tupperware storage - been used fewer than 10 times in 18 years....
I love washing dishes. By myself. I find it cathartic and therapeutic. It's my self-created 'OCD' thing.
- I got my finger stuck in a door
I added wooden planks to my chicken run's door frame, so mice couldn't get through the gap. Today, I closed my pinky between the door/ pole, chicken wire, and a rough board. The family member that came out to help, brought a drill and revved it a few times. I freaked out and used a marshmallow stick to undo the latch. Also, this is a temporary enclosure for a sick bird.

- My latest package of Beyond spicy chicken patties had an extra patty
It's a 5 pack, and there were 6 patties inside. Bonus!
- I went to the Optometrist for eye pain. He referred me to a Chiropractor.
He said it could be from posture and pinching a nerve or something. He knew a Chiro office that was life changing for him. But get this, the Chiro doesn't accept insurance and it's $75 for every 15 minutes you are with him. The first visit takes at least an hour to analyze you.
I decided to look up online what it could be. Turns out it was strain from staring at a monitor all day. I turned the backlight down and changed the color to more yellow. I also downloaded an app that controls the screen for 20 seconds every 20 minutes and forces me to be mindful and focus elsewhere. No more pain.
- I procrastinated calling to get my prescription refilled today
If I procrastinate tomorrow I will still have time
- I said something nonsensical to a friend
Earlier today, I basically passed out. (I've had guests for most of the past week and have had very inadequate sleep.) Before I fell asleep, I texted a friend about a YouTube video that might interest them (Legal Eagle suing Honey). Then I fell asleep.
While I was sleeping, the friend responded with their insights about the case. I have no memory of it, but apparently the attached picture is how I responded to their comments on a video about a legal case. For some reason, that friend did not respond.
edit: Just refining the wording.
- Ceiling fan for heating and the Mrs.
I have ceiling fans that I run (on slow) clockwise when it's cold. I can clearly feel the mixing of upper level (warm) air into my environment which is comfortable but my wife thinks any moving air is cold air and hates it. I think I need to position multiple temp sensors at various heights and locations to prove my point but my concern is that if I have empirical evidence to back my supposition it will be poorly received because, of course, I'm over-thinking it. Thoughts?
Edit: after receiving the thoughts I requested I must say I agree with everyone and will simply pack my opinion away and mix a lovely beverage with some warming whiskey when we settle in tonight...of course, I'll make two so we can enjoy together.
Edit edit: Sorry, but as I am a goober I had to gather data and I can unequivocally state that fan blowing up makes temp sensors warmer.
- The garbage I brought out a day early? Empty can is still on the sidewalk.
I tell my wife I will get it, there's no reason to keep reminding me every few days.
- Played my guitar a lot today
Not sure if I accomplished anything in terms of advancing the skill, but I sure got tired.
- Bike tires were low this morning
I hadn't gotten on the bike this weekend, and the rear was low this morning. I tried putting air in, to see if that was sufficient. And by lunch time both front and rear needed air. I'm gonna put some more sealant in both tires before the ride tonight. Sealant and tubeless are great, it's just the thing that it's necessary to add more sealant now and again.
- First day at work after the holidays
The office is almost empty and I can work on my project in peace.
