  • Hey buddy,

After reviewing the situation between myself and the admin team, we have decided that the actions taken by the mod in question do not align with how we expect moderators in particular to conduct themselves in the wider fediverse. We will be taking action against the user in question and locking this thread. For any additional concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to me either here or on Matrix.

  • Lemm.ee servers are not hosted in the US and therefore not subject to US jurisdiction.

As others have pointed out, information on Lemm.ee-your posts, comments, profile info, etc. are both public, and federated with American instances.

What information you consider sensitive is dependent on your circumstances and your threat model, but generally I would avoid posting anything you deem sensitive to lemm.ee, due to the public nature of federated media.

  • Ah I see what happened here.

We go through our applications manually, and part of that application process explicitly states "Please say you agree to our instance rules found in the sidebar of the front page"

"Lemmy in" applications are assumed bots and get auto denied.

I DM'd you to take some further action to see if we can get your desired username.

  • At a minimum I’d request 5 hours a week cumulatively, with more of course being beneficial.

Tasks like reviewing reports and applications only take a few minutes and can be done on a mobile device- I personally approve most applications on my phone.

    Lemm.ee is recruiting new admins!

Draconic kind of hit the nail on the head with this one. Going into a community you don’t like and mass downvoting everything isn’t super awesome, and there’s no rule against the moderator of that community banning you for it.

This is one of those situations where the best thing for you to do is disengage

  • Hey there Realitista,

Lemm.ee does not have a .world style TOS, in part because it is the belief of the admin team that overly lengthy and complicated rules are

a: difficult to read in the first place, much less remember
b: create loopholes which are actively abused

It is not an objective of the Lemm.ee admin team to curate your content or experience for you. You can find our administration and moderation policies here: https://lemm.ee/post/401063

We do have a few legal requirements relating to privacy(GDPR) that you can find in our legal document here: https://lemm.ee/legal

The long and short of it on lemm.ee: Don't do anything criminal, don't do anything that exposes the server to liability, and you'll be fine.

There is also a bit of an unspoken rule I refer to as the law of PITA bread. Given that this server is run entirely on a volunteer basis, any users or actions that cause Pain In The Ass for the admins will eventually lead to a ban, even if it doesn't specifically violate any rules.

Let me know if you have any additional questions, and I appreciate you reaching out!
