Is it me or does this not feel like a title race for us? I know we're in it objectively but it doesn't feel that way, definitely not like last season. Just feels like a "this is what we are now let's enjoy it" vibe rather than the ultracompetitiveness.
Last season was mad stressful. We had a small gap between us and City that was deceptive because of their 2 games in hand, we had injuries to key players preventing us from playing the way we were playing in the first half of the season, and opposing teams were figuring us out anyway. It felt like we should win it but for weeks and weeks we all saw the signs of disappointment reveal themselves. Expectation without hope.
This season, we're third. We shouldn't expect to win the title, but Liverpool is the one with injuries and signs of slipping. City looks to be in a good position, but they still have to play Liverpool at Anfield and us at the Etihad. Hope without expectation.
Definitely does not feel like it. Last season it was stressful, either anxious with hope or anxious waiting for the shoe to drop. This season was like meh, if we finish respectably and play good football it's good.
I hated the neon zebra kit. Hated it. But now I understand... It's like in nature, it helps us blend into the pitch and confuse the fuck out of the opponents. Like zebras.
I love that kit, I even purchased the authentic version of the shirt when it was released pre-season. I think it will become a classic like the “bruised banana” shirts that got a lot of criticism at the time including being compared to a wasp spattered on a windscreen.
I think this kit will become equally iconic, especially if we win the league in it.
