[September 24, 1923] Three Ages starring Buster Keaton is released. This is the first film in which Keaton is the writer, director, producer, and leading role.

The film takes place in three different eras: prehistoric times, ancient Rome, and the 1920s ("The present age of Speed, Need, and Greed"). This multi-era structure is a parody of DW Griffith's movie Intolerance.
