In the end, all three characters have their share of spooky ghost encounters.
- [October 01, 1923] Hyperinflation in Germany continues to wreak havoc. The price of eggs has reached 4 billion Marks, and the price of bread is 670 million Marks.

- [September 24, 1923] Three Ages starring Buster Keaton is released. This is the first film in which Keaton is the writer, director, producer, and leading role.
The film takes place in three different eras: prehistoric times, ancient Rome, and the 1920s ("The present age of Speed, Need, and Greed"). This multi-era structure is a parody of DW Griffith's movie Intolerance.

In this short, Koko and his clown buddy pester the cartoonist (Max Fleischer) for some decent mode of transportation.
NOTE: This version of Youtube is actually a rerelease with a new title card added. Koko did not have a name until 1924-- before this, he was just called "the clown". Also note that this cartoon was originally silent, and the music has been added later.
- [August 27, 1923] A washout caused by heavy rains in Indiana derail a train. One dead, four injured.
A washout occurred near Suman, Indiana, causing the train to derail and slide down a twenty foot embankment. The engineer, George Novenger, was killed when the engine fell over and pinned him underneath. Four passengers were also injured.
- [August 11, 1923] Swingin' Down the Lane by Isham Jones becomes the number one song in America
