I don't think Canada wants to hurt so many innocent people because Trump runs his mouth.
Cutting electricity doesn't only mean it's stopping kids from playing Fortnite or something. It also means cutting it from infrastructure, hospitals, hospices and many other healthcare facilities, water pumping and treatment, traffic control and so on. Trump won't suffer because any of that happening, random people will.
Sure some people may have voted for Trump but a whole lot didn't. They don't deserve that.

As disgusting as it is, he's a lot more likely to make progress with some narrowly constructed flattery than with overt criticism no matter how well deserved.

It makes him particularly vulnerable to manipulation, and at the same time it makes it virtually impossible for him to take criticism without throwing a tantrum and doubling down on whatever shitty thing he's doing.

There was some very carefully constructed language being used here which I think is a good first step.
It should also be noted that Carney said 'Never' five times when Trump said Never say Never but I don't think Carney was visible on the American broadcast.
