It's not like the Soviets were alone in taking war loot, I remember Redditors crying over a picture of a GI taking the watch of a literal SS Waffen officer (the officer didn't seem too phased because he presumably knew he could buy an even better replacement when he gets a cushy job with NATO a couple of years in the future)

People take grave robbing really seriously. The worst possible form of theft that anybody can commit, bar none.
- If a starving person has bread that they’ll die without and that bread is stolen, that theft is objectively worse than grave robbing. I’m not saying symbols don’t matter, but grave robbing is a symbolic offense that does psychological harm, and material harm done to living people will always be worse and more important.
