This happens every year. There really should be more offsite parking with prioritized shuttle services like they do for major airports, and encourage people to be somewhat prepared to hike in to the campsite.
This would also create demand for “Sherpa” services. Heck I’d pay extra if I could get a mule to help hike in my camp gear.

Imagine this and a trailer and you have a lucrative teenage sherpa business.
Situation: You booked festival tickets for you and your friends, bought a bunch of supplies (tent, chair, toast and several 24 beer pallets and you are stepping out of the train, completely tired and now realising that you still have to walk 2 km to the festival. But oh wonder, what's there? 10 of these toy cars with trailer waiting there like vultures to fish for your money to transport all your stuff and if your lucky, some of you as well.

We had some guys build karts inside couches, which would ferry people around the festival for a donation. We all rode side saddle.
I love these type of articles. “Over-abundance of cars predictably creates calamity” yet they pointedly refuse to imagine a solution or talk to someone who could.
It's easier to yell at someone else to solve the problem they co-created and then scoff off those proven solution, than to take the necessary action themselves.
Idk why these gigantic overcrowded festivals still appeal to so many people. Do people still fall for that "the larger, the better" marketing?
It's too loud, too dirty, it's uncomfortable and overpriced. You get to see bands on stages that are too far away if you're not standing in the front rows hours before the concert starts. So you don't have any time to chill on the festival/camping grounds if you want to see more than three bands. Or you end up watching the concerts on large screens somewhere back in the crowd. Which would be much nicer without crowd, sitting on the sofa and watching in on TV at home.
Nail on the head. I've only gone to midsized festivals like rock the bells and Ozzfest back when that was a thing. I always left disappointed. I always miss a group I want to see because another is on another stage at the same time and then a lot of the performances are subpar likely because with so many bands there, I'm sure it's a fucking party backstage and everyone is wasted. Plus more crowds, traffic and higher ticket prices. Those were local level festivals that had tons of big names. I can't imagine traveling to a place, paying top dollar to camp in a fucking parking lot, and having little to no access to running water for 3 days for the "experience". Miss me with that.
I mean, apart from the whole "shouldn't have taken the car in the first place" thing, if you are stuck in a traffic jam for 7 hours, surely it's moving slow enough that you can get out of the car and look for water & a restroom somewhere in walking distance, as long as one person stays to move the car if necessary?
I was trapped on a remote section of highway in Canada that was closed due to extreme and unexpected snow fall. The only bathroom and water nearby was the ditch.
IMO a lack of bathrooms isn't life-threatening, just inconvenient.
And a lack of water is a lack of planning when you're in a car.
When I still had a car, it always had a gallon of bottled water, a warm blanket, first aid kit, flashlight and a couple of lighters in it.
It's insane how quickly a short drive can turn into a life-threatening situation when something goes wrong.
I think that would fall outside of their mental capacity.

I went to Coachella twenty years ago. It was more than enough.
Worst part was Perry Farrel... guy was already past his prime then, and his attempts to hit the high notes on old Jane's Addiction tracks sounded like a mangy alley cat in heat. He kinda looked like one too.
That plus the shitty fairground venue with 110 degree heat stuck up in the asscrack of nowhere made it rank pretty much as the worst concert I had ever been too.
There are so many good venues in SoCal you can spend your $ at - Coachella ain't one of them.
I thought Jane's Addiction's whole vibe was that he didn't give a fuck about the vocals.
The only thing Perry Farrel gives a fuck about is drinking himself stupid and beating up his bandmates and blaming everyone else except his alcohol problem.
Fuck em. Get what you pay for. The second influencers started going just for clout was when I marked it off as something I'd never attend.
