My grocery stores have these grocery rolling baskets and they're very convenient for small grocery trips
- I hate these... as a tall person, I have a choice between cosplaying as Quasimodo, or letting that thing wreck my boot heels...

  Lots of things are just built for average people so if you are short or tall you automatically get inconvenienced
  
  As another tall person, I just let the front wheels float and extend my arm so the back wheels don't crash into my feet. It... Kinda works.

- Handling has got to be negative on those things.
  You start going and the weight distribution or ground is uneven and who knows what’s going to happen.

I think speed is mistaken for acceleration in this case. The top one is definitely faster even if it has low acceleration and poor off road wheels.

The top one needs to somehow have a negative value for handling.
- Only if they have the rear wheels fixed, like in the US. Otherwise, they're great at handling. You can even give em a push and watch them make a pirouette before you, grab the front grill and pull them behind you.
  
  You seem to be ignoring Newton's Fourth Law of Motion:
  Whenever you don't expect it (and often when you do), one wheel of a shopping cart will be completely fucked, making the whole thing a nightmare to maneuver.

My supermarket has double decker versions of the small cart. Doubles the capacity in exchange for a slight ding to speed.

what fancy ass market are you shopping where the top cart has so much handling? most of what I've seen has literally negative handling, they actively go another way.

needs a fifth bar for "comfort". i had the middle one in my living room for week but had to get rid of it because it was the most cramp-inducing TV chair i've ever had. bottom one is probably better.

Top cart is a euro spec cart with swivels on all 4 wheels. By far the superior shopping cart.
- Acceleration may be slower on the top one, but it sure does have speed in straight sections

The bottom shopping cart looks like the funnest one to use. Maybe if I have free time (and space), I’d love to make a larger version

Then there's my Safeway with the medium sized plastic ones that feel like they are about to fall apart when I put anything in the cart. I started just using the baskets the carts are so bad.
