The ancient Middle West prophecies speak of a prophet who will lead us to the promised land where there's unlimited pop and deep fried chicken pita wraps with ranch dressing. It's a place that's basically the same as the lyrics from big rock candy mountain.

As a kid, I thought the Midwest was Montana, the Dakotas, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas.

Nebraska and the Dakotas are legit in the Midwest, but at the far western edge of it.

The Midwest is like 4 states in my head. I grew up in Indiana, so its Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois, and some of Kentucky. But most of Kentucky is actually the deep south, so that's not even quite right.

If only we could get all parties to agree to a 9-state solution.

I knew of two other people on lemmy who lived in my state, and then following the tradition of so many astronauts before us, one of them left due to governmental persecution and fled to another country.
Shout out to all the people stuck in these states without enough funds to leave for a better life.
