Russia and US agree to work toward ending Ukraine war in a remarkable diplomatic shift
The meeting is meant to pave the way for a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
A discussion to end the conflict, where the victim isn't present, will not favor the victim nor deserve any praise
Nor will it even work, because, like, it takes two to tango. Ukraine can just… decline to sign what ever agreement Putin and trump cook up.
Unless that dinner is explosive.
I'm not sure the US saying "okay, Putin gets whatever he wants" is going to be as effective as Trump would like to think.
US is offering nothing to Ukraine, no NATO, no more weapons, no more aid, no security guarantees, etc.
What are they even negotiating?
Obviously they are negotiating who gets which ukranian natural resources. USA and Russia, like always, divide the cake between themselves, while Ukraine and the rest of the world realise these bastards will always be the same imperialist assholes.
Trump's administration don't even lie about this. They have explicitly said that's the whole issue. I hate their policies, but you gotta acknowledge the honesty.

If the EU and The Ukraine were involved in these negotiations I’m pretty sure we’d be much more likely to come to a satisfactory conclusion.

It’s short sighted and obviously doomed to fail. Europe and Ukraine are not on board, so all this will really do is give the trump administration a way to kill aid and support for Ukraine to make Putin happy.
