Imagine being married to an orange clown who never came to this realization, even though he got a daughter.
Imagine realising he wants to fuck her
In my experience that doesn't usually happen, instead they simply see the daughter as another piece of property theirs to control (which is often framed as "protect"), and draw validation of their (toxic) masculinity from (making themselves feel like "big men" by threatening to harm any guy who comes near her for example).
yeah, they can only ever imagine wanting to protect a woman they don't want to sleep with, quite funny.
a woman they don’t want to sleep with,
Sadly this isn't always the case, there's often a deeply incestuous vibe (and sometimes more than that) to that kind of ownership some men take of their daughters (I don't really feel like looking through the results for this search right now, but I remember several images of men wearing t shirts saying shit like "the only one who gets to touch my daughter is me" and creepy shit like that).
There are so many different layers of fucked up to a relationship between a misogynistic man and his daughter., it really is so unfortunate, but it's just one more way in which the patriarchy maintains itself.
This is my favorite video to help deprogram these people
While I hate living in the south there are some really cool people here. Like this dude. Thanks for sharing.
Lot of them (at least of prior generations) internalized that misogyny and think it's their place. Disgusting to see.
Set up audio for a Bible study of 70+ year old women. Shit you not the video they were watching said "you know sometimes our moods are like the cloths in our closets"
The look in the crowd was not horror but nodding along.
The 50 sonething feminist coworker was mortified.
Dumbass here. What does that phrase about moods and clothes mean? that a proverb ?
When I was in healthcare a co-worker and I were chatting with a patient while setting up a blood draw. She said she was in an engineering program at (local school).
My co-worker told her how brave she was because "You know us women aren't good at math."
My co-worker was a 40 something nurse practitioner with three daughters. You just know this otherwise very smart woman is going to pass that thought disease down to her kids.
that's the thing with hegemony. it's so pervasive in how it programs you that you don't even see it. you're not even aware there are alternatives until someone jostles you awake. we live in a patriarchal white supremacist christofascist society. the enforcers of this status quo don't all even understand that these are not genetically imparted truths inherent to our living situations, but rather social constructs enforced on us.
and i'm sure i have hegemonic blind spots too. i try my best to see out into the world and hear perspectives that aren't my own so i can have access to the full truth. i fall short sometimes. none of us can see all things everywhere. the best you can do is have patience with sleep walkers who are non violent threats, protect people from violent threats, and be open to the idea that you can be wrong, and hope that by living with kindness and compassion you can do your part to create the enlightened society we all dream of, even the christofascist followers, where all are free.
I don't have enough and I have no fashion sense? Surprisingly accurate analogy for me. /hj
I'm sure there's some context to that story.
Am I a joke to you?
I had that but with having an SO and realizing that all people are people with the same depth of life experience as me.
