It's worth remembering that immigrants commit fewer crimes than citizens and are more economically productive.
Not only should we act against these ICE raids because they're inhuman fascist theatre, but because the make the country less safe and poorer.

Not to mention, with the Laken Riley act a mere accusation is enough. So if a cop decides to arrest you for no reason and you're undocumented, they'll deport you before you ever see a judge.

Its worth remembering that ICE continues to exist even when republicans are not in the white house.
You can and should oppose ICE all the time. Less deportations happen when people resist. Direct action is more effective than voting. The work doesn't stop when your pick is in the office.

This is a huge thing the Democratic Party needs to internalize unless they want to keep losing.
Support and work with local groups doing actual good on the ground outside of election season, maybe, like, I dunno, fund them a little with that massive fucking warchest? Be a much better use of the money than a deluge of YouTube ads.

expecting activism from the party is a fools errand. That is not a thing the democratic party would consider, nor is it the role of political parties in most countries.
We need to do the activism. We need to pressure governments and individuals to do the right things, and make it more difficult to do the wrong things. That is our power. You cannot rely on someone else or some organization to do it for you.

Aggressive quotas for arrest are a notable element of the the NKVD during the Soviet purges under Stalin.
The goal of it was to create pressure on low levels to find reasons to arrest people. To cut corners and make up nonsense reasons. To create a sense of terror that scared the target population. Even those who had no good reason to be scared found them selves taking precautions and acting overly loyal.
There is a strong argument to be made that the goal was less to arrest dissenter but to increase the number of people being sent to labor camps to do free labor for the state.

This is very similar to the last time Trump was president. People worked against his policy, making it harder for ICE to do their job, wich is a good thing.
Last time it was prisons, talking down their tv's advertising who had recently been incarcerated. This simple action reduced ICE numbers considerably.

This is good but eventually, ICE may start arresting US Citizens that are not Hispanic as a chilling effect.
