I feel like Casandra. Very gender affirming.

That 300 years part is the most fucked thing of it all. They are literally including genocide and slavery as "pretty good".
But slavery and genocides have been decreasing over time due to capitalism!
Not to mention rich capitalist barons being tightly involved in government has already been happening the whole time. There's no new behaviour here.
What do you mean captialism fixed those minute issues?
Where did that bring you?...
Wait, even on r/neoliberal?! Amazing things are happening
I love how that comment is obviously meant to be a joke but it's just the truth
(except the "it's been pretty good" part; the only "good" part about it has been its use in overthrowing feudalism)
overthrowing feudalism
"It has been said that terror is the principle of despotic government. Does your government therefore resemble despotism? Yes, as the sword that gleams in the hands of the heroes of liberty resembles that with which the henchmen of tyranny are armed. Let the despot govern by terror his brutalized subjects; he is right, as a despot. Subdue by terror the enemies of liberty, and you will be right, as founders of the Republic. The government of the revolution is liberty's despotism against tyranny."
Arguably the peasants had a better quality of life under feudalism with more time off from work than modern day workers. And the lords knew they had to provide for the peasants or they’d be outnumbered.
I hope my self satisfaction takes the edge off when Amerikkka finally collapses
I don’t trust the seriousness of that comment, honestly. It comes off as very snarky, which would be in line with liberal behavior.
eh the wave of leftist discourse that broke into popularity we're currently still riding started as irony posting
I don't think that happens here, because ideological neo liberalism is a hell of a stance to have, but snarky irony poisoned stuff used to be our bread and butter too
I'm never quite sure how many layers of irony they're on
Took them 300 years to find out that capitalism leads to the most obvious conclusion of capitalism. Hey, at least they tried.
The owl of minerva takes flight at night... Or in liberals case 300 years later.
Hey now give us principled anarchists some credit
Of course! "tankie" has come to mean anyone who is anti imperialist, or basically anyone who isn't credulous enough to believe the US state dept and military.
"You're such a Cassandra"
Even worse, that comment was probably meant as a joke.
All our worst enemies are in one place.
This is a simple observation, nothing more.
Nah this is so tongue in cheek
They love this garbage
Seems a lot of them are having come to Jesus moments(CW: r/neoliberal)
dont forget people taunting them with comments such as "“haha enjoy Gaza getting glassed losers”. You lose credibility when you threaten something and not only does it not happen but the reverse of it happens first week on the job.
Fuck this thread is great lol
This is the Wapo story referenced in the thread: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2025/01/15/trump-biden-credit-israel-hamas-ceasefire/
A diplomat briefed on the negotiations said Hamas’s diminished position aided negotiations, in addition to Trump’s influence, saying this was “the first time there has been real pressure on the Israeli side to accept a deal.” The diplomat, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss closed-door talks, said the contours of the agreement suggest that Israeli negotiators offered concessions on issues that had previously impeded a breakthrough.
But a senior Biden administration official contested the idea that Trump’s Inauguration Day ultimatum secured a conclusion to talks. The official said that while deadlines can be helpful, the “catalyst” for success was the defeat of Hezbollah, an Iran-backed militia; a ceasefire deal in Lebanon; and Hamas’s “massive isolation.”
It's unclear what the "pressure" was from the Trump camp to get it done. Time will tell I guess.

What’s crazy is if they looked at an American text book, they’d We’ve been through this
If you structured society around who owns the most beanis and allow those with lots of beanis to ignore the rules then you don't have rules for society you have a caste system with extra steps
