Peak Goth
All this talk about being goth, but no one is suggesting we sack Rome. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined
ackshually, that's not "goth" that's "visigoth", which is less wearing black and being strange as fuck and more wearing armor and sacking capitals.
Kids these days don't even know their gothic sub cultures smh...
I say we sack Rome and I don't even care if we do it in a goth way. Hell, I say we get creative with it.
I had to look this up and it's (kinda) true. I thought his heart was removed in preparation for embalming or something but no -
Her husband drowned and his body was found 10 days later. They build a makeshift crematory and burned it on the beach, turning everything to ash except a few pieces of bone and a chunk of.... something. Probably not a calcified heart.
People nowadays don't think a brittle calcium heart shell could have survived cremation and think it was much more likely to be his liver (which was saturated in salt water).
Mary and others at the time thought it was his heart so it doesn't change the story at all. Just thought others might be interested, too
Pretty sure her husband was her dads friend, and she was significantly younger. They had to leave due to persecution.
Probably just grooming IMO.
They were victorian so they had an advantage
The perks of being rich in the victorian period - you could do pretty much whatever you wanted, at the worst you'd be described as "somewhat queer"
I think the only thing that's changed is that our rich people lack imagination, and we describe them as somewhat cringe.
🎵 Dear Goth, it's been 666 days since my last confession... 🎵
She was also party to a scheme that enabled her friend Isabel Robinson and Isabel's lover, Mary Diana Dods, who wrote under the name David Lyndsay, to embark on a life together in France as husband and wife.
Maybe her husband had a drinking cup made from a human skull?
