Eisenhower and Kennedy had the highest approval ratings of recent times. Your comment could be misinterpreted to believe that Eisenhower was the lowest before Biden.
yea, meant since after Truman. also, only looking at ratings for at this point in his presidency, if you're including second-term ratings it's the lowest since Nixon lol
Proof that you can't take the dog out of the fight but you can take the dog out of the fight but you can't take the... fight the dog out of the... dogfight.
Sometimes I get the vibe that this is all according to keikaku and that these past couple elections were just the ruling class realizing via Trump just how much they can actually get away with. They love Trump's policies, but they're worried Trump's persona is too off putting and perhaps they don't fully trust him, so they put Biden in the white house for a little while to install some child proofing on the levers of power before letting Trump back in to maul the working class and take all of the blame for it.
Eh... Biden did far more damage to the US' hegemony and prospects of ever maintaining dominance into the future.
Doing a genocide for 15 months while trying to ignore dissent at home.
Continuing to send an entire country into a meat grinder in Ukraine to "weaken Russia" (but more importantly keep Raytheon's stock price up).
Doing absolutely nothing domestically to actually fix the post-covid inflation. Specifically in housing (18% increase in homelessness in a year... holy...), healthcare, food prices. Many other areas as well. He didn't even try to do anything.
Keeping and expanding Trump's racist anti-immigrant policies
Tariffs on China specifically the things we need more like solar panels (again just expanding Trump's worst policies)
Speaking of solar, doing effectively nothing to restrict oil corporations from continuing to pump out CO2. Very, very little domestic investment into critical sectors like solar. (Tariffs on foreign solar panels while domestically not really ramping up production... I wonder what the result will be?)
Basically anything Trump did that was bad Biden continued it or made it worse. There were very few things he did that were good like finally ending US prescence in Afghanistan (which was a Trump policy also, but Biden did execute it so that's good)
I think it's best to not think of them as Trump/Biden administrations but rather just all a continuation of the same core ideology. They don't really disagree on anything. Even the stuff Biden claimed to disagree on he's either ignored for four years (with the media's help) or just swapped sides.
It's hard to explain exactly, but I think I also sometimes get stuck in the mode of "there are probably "smart" evil guys in there somewhere and they just aren't getting what they want enough. Instead the dumb evil guys (John Bolton, Kirby... fucking Biden himself, etc.) are getting what they want." But at a certain point I just sort of resign myself to the apparent truth that there are no more smart evil guys... all that's left are these husks like Biden. Fully incapable of accepting reality in ways that the guys in the 1960s or 70s would have. None of these current dinguses have any clue what the actual purpose and goal of the US empire even is. They drank their own koolaid. They're swimming around, lost in an ocean of their own sauce. They've forgotten this is all supposed to continue the support apparatus for the enrichment of capitalists. They started believing that their actions are actually good, not the calculated evils that people in the past seem to have understood. This is not to jerk off those demons, btw. It's just acknowledging that while evil at least they displayed an amount of competence. Now we have... like I said, John Kirby. That guy is a legitimate fucking moron. Listen to him. Listen to all them. These people are the dumbest but also most evil pieces of shit that could possibly end up with slivers of power. They're just doing a dance that sort of resembles what their predecessors did publicly without understanding why they did it. It's all rot from laziness and apathy. The delusion of "we "won" because we deserved it." Well, if they keep telling themselves that, as they are doing, the losing will only continue to accelerate.
Biden kept repeating for four years "Because we're the United States of America, damnit! We can do anything." Saying that while never doing anything positive and only ever doing negative things pretty much sums up everything
Election 2028! Bidens posthumous AI persona v Trump running for his 3rd term! This year instead of a debate the candidates will be competeing to see who can last the longest without shitting themselves! Remeber to tune in!
