  • If we called it the Califlu do you think it would get red states to start masking again?

    • again? they didn't even mask for the "chinaflu"

      at this point I don't think you could even get blue states to mask up if you could prove the virus originated from trump personally.

  • After everything that's happened I would be genuinely surprised if even half this country bothered to take precautions for this one.

    • A small part of me wants this to happen to make people mask again. But really that ain't gonna happen, and this is just gonna make things even worse.

  • Is this another knock on effect of climate change?

    • Maybe on the wild birds' side, but capitalists are turning it into a full on pandemic through factory farming practices while the US government politely asks them to act responsibly.

    • I'd say yes and no, not necessarily due to changing temperatures but due to huge quantities of bird livestock (in absolute cosmic horror conditions) but I guess loss of habitat and a polluted environment doesn't help much, animal industry is for sure the biggest drive of viral/bacterial diseases. Which is kinda poetically fitting tbh, considering the nightmare modern day factory farming is.

    • It's mostly an effect of meat consumption.
