Well DT, I got the place... and at the original rent no less (thanks, sloppy REAs!). Payment has gone through so it's official.

I'm relieved but also... now that it's real my heart is also filled with incredible, crushing sadness. I know it's going to be good for me to downsize and cull and open up my life to new options but I am so, so, sad to have to let go of my comforts here under such ugly circumstances. I can't even bear to look at my plants, it breaks my heart. Such is life though, isn't it. Change does not always happen the way we want it to. (and this isn't by far the worst experience I've had having to leave a house)

My plan for tonight is to just make a meta-list of tasks so that I don't feel too overwhelmed, but after that I'm going to just let the emotions flow through and watch an episode of Shrinking and take it easy. No stiffer up lip tonight. The work will start tomorrow. I know I'll get through this, there is joy on the other side. ❤️‍🩹

- Haha, I wish I could feel celebratory but it's more a blunt/muted sense of relief. For now I'm just enjoying relaxing to some tunes and tucking into dinner in bed. Got some smoked salmon in the fridge as a treat for tomorrow am.

What kind of plants and what sort of setup? (Not asking for anything doxable, just an idea of what you could be working with in the new place.)
There’s a lot of creative ways to have plants, even ones that are just indoor plants. There are also small hydroponic indoor garden kits that could fit on a bench top or windowsill for herbs, bonsai, or air plants.
(I’m so sorry, I’m not good with emotional support and tend to be a fixer but I understand if this is not helpful or wanted)
- I can probably take most of my indoor plants over, there's a decent south-facing window ledge. Bedroom is west facing (ugh) without a ledge. The outdoor ones are gonna have to go as they're not suitable indoors esp without so much light
  This is a really small apartment so there won't be much bench top space. It's alright tbh, I've been neglecting my plants the last few months due to exhaustion and I won't have that much time over the next few months either. I'll head to a friend's place to garden if I need a green fix

😂 I just realised last week that I didn't have to do that crappy xmas dinner in July shitty deal. MIL#1 really wanted me to cook a xmas dinner and have all the celebration but without presents. So last year I did, I made a lovely three course xmas dinner then made everyone watch two different Scrooge movies so they truly understood the meaning of xmas. They did not expect to celebrate the meaning of xmas, they just wanted a fancy dinner and to be fashionable. They did not like the Scrooge. They have never mentioned xmas in winter/July again. 😄

You're supposed to decorate yer house a little, make a welcome sign then wait for kids to knock on your door. The kids say trick or treat and you decide. If no treat they can trick you. Give nice treats and maybe have something Halloweeny to do. They wear cute costumes and you get to talk with kids and community. It's meant to be interactive and fun.

So my ukulele capo vanished into thin air. I'm sure it will show up somewhere. Whilst looking into that, I investigated studying engineering, and realised another four years of uni is not up my alley. All whilst juggling competing deadlines. My psychologist asked me if I can see a psychiatrist because she thinks ADHD meds would really help, but then I'd be out of pocket. Now I'm making an appointment to see the GP who gave me the wrong dosage of Vyvanse initially which caused a literal and spiritual headache. Too much going on.

I really really loathe how inaccessible mental health services can be. My partner has untreated ADHD, and his psych recommended a psychiatrist too. But it's just so expensive, and he's had a rough time with work (we have the union and fairwork involved, it's a cluster-f), so it just feels out of reach.
It's so annoying you had a dr who prescribed the wrong dosage, it really leaves a mark on the trust we place in medical professionals. I hope you are able to find a way forward.
Regarding uni, yeah, my one experience with uni in 2021 left a lot to be desired. It was so much stress with so little support, and no leeway. It's one me for choosing unimelb, but it's on them for being so utterly lackluster. I'm having a much better time with TAFE in all honesty, even better than HS too. It might be worth checking out the list of free TAFE courses that the vicgov offers, there may be a different pathway you could take to what you want to do? Or even just whatever looks interesting :) sending you my good vibes!

On the bright side grocery shopping is done until I need more food and I really held back on buying junk food to save money.

Also got some cheap mushrooms and onions from the independent supermarket. I actually should have bought more mushrooms in light of that.

Against better judgement I did some work and let time get away from me while the WBBL was having a rain break and subsequently the game got called off due to heavy rain.

Finished working and now I don’t have to do any over the weekend and I have the entire Monday off now to look forward to.

I know minimalism isn’t for the poors cos you always need that thing again. But I’m having a strong urge to bin everything I own.

It’s fine. I’m putting everything away, doing a cheeky shove, and I can sort the cupboards out later. What matters is just getting things tidy and wiped down. Spring cleaning isn’t finished yet.

Edit: The guy showed up before I was quite done but it’s fine. The inspection was structural

I think my smoke shop has finally been barbequed. It's hard to tell because the only article is in the hs. I guess after the 100th, it's no longer news. It was a good run. RIP.

Update: It's not my shop. It lives another day. Phew.

My crocs have arrived. I’ve not taken them off since I put them on try, my feet have not known such comfort. I think they just beat out the Birks on the comfort level. More squishy.

And waterproof. I love mine - they are ratty and worn out but putting them on is like coming home after a long journey.

I’ve never worn or had crocs before.
What makes them so desirable?
- Comfort! Max comfort. Also close to indestructible. I have strange shaped and very wide feet for their length, the beginnings of arthritis and so all fashion shoes are more or less painful to wear. I can't wear thongs anymore so crocs are my summer go to. Lovely resilient soles, can't be destroyed by water or walking, don't rub or blister my feet (something I've had to deal with all my life due to fishbelly white skin) even when sweaty. So they look like shit - but who cares? It's worth it for feet that don't hurt. I do flip the backstrap forward and wear them as slides though. I like that the front bit protects my feet quite well from sunburn and tripping hazards. Only downside to crocs is packing them in a suitcase - they take up a shittonne of room. And they're not really suitable for gardening as the soles are a bit squishy for using a spade (at least for me) and weeds/seeds tend to collect inside.
- They’re just very comfortable rubber slippers. Passable to wear for a quick run to the shops when you can’t be bothered with shoes.

I've been planning a book for about 6 months, was thinking first I should practice all the art skills. Now I'm thinking I should just do it and practice each page as I go.

And perfection is not a requirement. 🙂

Alright, bunnings still had TONS of veggies left so I've loaded up and ordered some veggie mix soil to fill up my raised planters. How do I decide what goes where? i've got 4 raised planters and 2 stand alone smaller pot things. Gotta plan 2 strawberries, 2 Tomatoes, 4 beetroot, 1 capsicum, punnet of carrot, zucchini, punnet of cos lettuce and punnet of green beans. Dunno where to put stuff.

Idk but maybe look at companion planting guides, or what type of sacrificial plants to lure pests off more valuable veg
Might give some ideas
Edit: I know tomatoes are heavy feeders and beans have that nitrogen fixing thing that enriches the soil, maybe that’s a good combo and they both climb so could share the stakes/lattice. Maybe even plant the beans tomatoes and zucchini interspersed.
Just throwing out ideas. Someone experienced weigh in
Edit: Also I saw something once about people planting things with deep roots and shallow roots in together so they made the most of the shared small space but I haven’t tried it.
If I tried it it would be baby spinach and carrots because those are what I’m familiar with. But strawberries spread over the surface of the soil with runners so maybe they have relatively shallow roots and can bunk in with the carrots?
Idk though. It also depends on their sun water and drainage needs, and if they inexplicably don’t work out together for some other reason. You’d have to check proper sources whether they combine well

Planning a trip to Sydney and trying to decide whether I should stay in a hostel or a hotel. The hostel I'm looking at is super close to everything I want to visit and feel it would be a tiny bit safer commuting back there at night, compared to taking public transport 20 minutes back to a hotel. Not to mention, the hostel is way cheaper.

If you're in your 20's, hostel.
If older, hotel.
That's how I'd do it
- depends on how down you are with listening to your room mates wank...
- Old people do hostels too.
  Tho hostels aren't cheap anymore so hotels are just as good a choice.

Got a chance to drive a hybrid today for lessons. The regenerative braking is surprisingly subtle.

Also, is it a long weekend this weekend? Talked to some people who said that it was, but I've got no holidays marked out on the calendar. Or is it a school thing?
