It sounds like he has no understanding of the way the world works at the moment. I hear this a lot from people. That their parents are completely disconnected from the realities of life these days.

An old mate is coming to stay for a couple of weeks in December!!!
I've known him about 20 years. We spent some crazy years in Brunswick sharehouses in the early 2000's doing some hectic things lol
He's one of those friends that I only see every few years, but we pick up where we left off.
He's actually been a good influence in my life, even in those crazy days. He taught me rock climbing which has been great fun, how to ride a motorbike, took me camping for the first time and taught me all that stuff. He's an absolute legend!

I find tapping my foot or (as silly as it sounds) nodding my head to the beat I'm trying to hold helps a lot.
