Microsoft is removing WordPad from Windows after nearly 30 years

Windows 12 will likely be the end of the road for WordPad.

Word pad is ok but don’t you dare touch MS Paint. That’s where I draw the line.

- I can't remember the last time I used WordPad and just barely remember the last time I used notepad. Notepad++ does everything I need and more.
  
  I use notepad all the time at work (where I can't install things like Notepad++). It's especially useful when I just want to paste something I copied from one source in order to recopy it in plain text.
  
  (As a side note: why can't Excel let me paste something as plain text by default, damnit?!)
  
  Lately I’ve become an nvim person, but before sublime text was the stuff for me

Okay, now I'm starting to get a little bit worried as I sometimes use WorldPad and have used it in the past even though I have begun using Libre Office Writer.
