I think it's one of these turn-your-brain-off shows that you can enjoy.

The animation was gorgeous, but I'm kinda annoyed that I got tricked into watching an isekai.

Edit: The English blurb for this show lies by omission. It cuts off the ending of the Japanese blurb! The cut off part reads something like, "While struggling with her storyboards, she loses consciousness. When she awakens she finds herself in the world of an anime she saw as a child, Tales of Destruction." I can see why they wouldn't want to be lumped in with all the other generic isekai that are constantly being churned out, but I don't appreciate being lied to.

Wow, the first episode was solid. Love the quirky throwback vibe of the heroes, the mix of art styles, and it definitely left we looking forward to the next episode. I have no idea how they will make a coherent plot out of this, but hopefully it will at least be fun and creative.

This is absolutely gorgeous and clearly an excuse for MAPPA to show off with different artstyles and sakuga moments. The gripe I have, though, is that it feels a little too self-indulgent to have an anime about a director/storyboarder saving the day with animation skills when the director is also the storyboarder and original creator (Yamazaki Mitsue). I'm not used to seeing self-inserts that are so blatantly not applicable to the audience. Also, I'm hoping that the "you're not making this all by yourself" comes back and becomes a theme, because (for me at least) it's hard to watch MAPPA's anime about animation and forget that they are one of the worst in the industry when it comes to working animators to the bone. As it stands currently it feels a little bit like the director/storyboarder/creator is writing about how cool and important being director/storyboarder is while the animators work to exhaustion to bring that vision to life. But it definitely has room to evolve, so we'll see.

It does look really nice, though. Even with the baggage, I think I have to give this premiere a 4/5.

Oh a new anime about the industry and it has high production value. Count me in!

What part of "throw these long expired lunch boxes away" involves "lining them neatly on a table so people can mistakenly pick them up, eat them and instant-isekai themselves".

I think it's good so far, the graphics are excellent, it's almost excessive lol, the characters are great, so this isn't an isekai, what is it then? The dubbing is so-so, her voice was way too high-pitched!!! "She came from the Royal world and she's an animator!!!! Lol"
