  • If I'm elected every Waffle House will be burned to the ground.

    • FWIW tipped employees' pay would, ideally, scale with the price of the food, which likely has gone up

      • A lot of individuals, particularly older people have no real idea how much prices have gone up when they've been insulated from the worst effects of it, even when they're looking at menu prices. My grandma has talked about hiring a house keeper for several years but then balks when she hears what the going rate is. Outside of high end establishments tipping is incredibly precarious, particularly in a lower income restaurant like Waffle House where I have to assume a few dollars has been the accepted norm for a long time. You have to factor in people who just straight have no inclination for tipping or decided that they've been snubbed in some way and leave you a penny.

        • Sure, but bad tippers have always existed, and in those cases these raises still won't matter anyway, because tipped positions that don't meet minimum wage have to be compensated by their employer up to that, and the newly raised wage is still below the federal minimum.
