  • i forgot those later filmpacks had batteries, golly what a boondoggle! at least polaroid is making em first party again, maybe someday it’ll be an affordable medium lmao

  • lmao we’ve had opposite experiences! i bought 2 old-ass polaroid land cameras that were perfectly functional, and took probably 50 pictures on each of em before the prices on fp-100c film started creeping above $1 per shot.

the impossible project continues to make type 100 film, but they currently charge ~$50 for THREE shots. for context the discontinued fp-100c filmpacks come in 10 packs and would run you ~$100 today. upsettingly high, but STILL CHEAPER than the modern replacement :c

  • I love people with kids who are oblivious they're shitty parents.
  • because she’s a teacher she probably pays out of pocket for school/project supplies. i’ve known a good few teachers, and refereeing to students as sort-of surrogate children is very common. i’d put my money on the mom hassling the daughter about not yet having kids, and the daughter saying something like “i already have kids!” and this idiot is still bitter about it because she feels she is OWED grandchildren.

i’m making a LOT of assumptions here, but like i said i WOULD put money on it. you hear enough firsthand stories and you start making these sort of assumptions.

  • if you can’t keep your entire music collection in the player, what’s the point?

you can occasionally find these at goodwills or on ebay for like $70, 90% of the time they just need new belts for the carousel. they even have a special port on the back that lets you daisychain two of em together and share outputs, AND they read home-burned cd-text. it’s a physical media pirate’s dream machine lol

  • Leaked codenames unsurprisingly suggest Pixel 9a and four Pixel 10 phones in 2025
  • yeah, reckon we’ve both been getting a bit semantic lol

i can’t speak for the original person, but my whole thing is regardless of consumer practices, manufacturerers are gonna keep making more and more phones every year, and they’re already making too many. those NIB phones on ebay were purchased, but not to be used. until they get sold, they’re just closer and closer to trash every day.

trade ins and buying/selling used DOES make a difference, it’s just hard not to think it’s a drop in the bucket compared to the massive amounts of electronics that end up getting discontinued, discounted, and sold to resellers hahaha

  • And then they don't stop after I say "I get it" a few times. 💀
  • my nd friend group has a protocol for this! if you think you already understand what the other person is saying, you just say “avocado”. then they either ask some questions to confirm or just say “ok but i wanna info dump anyways” and then it’s COLLABORATIVE info dumping!

  • I've been procrastinating calling the doctor for a week now...
  • i put off calling in a refill for my adderall too many times and my doctor got upset with me and now he calls ME if i go more than like 2 weeks over my script duration. i got remarkably lucky finding him.

  • Leaked codenames unsurprisingly suggest Pixel 9a and four Pixel 10 phones in 2025
  • Yeah but new phones that go unpurchased don’t just magically get unmanufactured. I ONLY buy used phones, but that has literally no impact on the garbage production that comes from companies releasing a new model literally every year.

The sheer number of old phones that are still new-in-box on the secondhand market should be enough to exemplify that fact. We are WAY overproducing tech, and the “model a year” framework is throwing fuel on that particular fire.

  • PS3 is a pirate's dream!
  • 320gb hdd I had laying around that would otherwise just collect dust due to it's miniscule size.

i put a 512gb drive in a thinkpad less than a decade ago and thought at the time “boy this might be overkill”

and now i can get 2tb on a fucking microsd for a cheaper data/cost ratio than i did back then, wild.

  • Gen Z Truth Rule
  • even when it’s earned, very rarely do i have to see exactly how someone does a fuck to understand the plot. like what am i supposed to feel, horny? because i certainly don’t get teary eyed and sentimental over what is essentially softcore porn lmao

  • True love
  • whenever someone brings something to our store with worn off black rodium, we’ll do the regular clean/check/polish and then just use an industrial black marker to fill it in. we don’t charge for it, and it’ll actually last a long time if it doesn’t see heavy wear!

the alternative is spending at least $400 for something you’ll use like 4 times a year. PLUS you’ll have to charge for it, and no one wants to pay for a full rhodium just to replace what is most likely a single tiny accent of their jewelry hahahah

keep at it with the repair work, that’s the lifeblood of a good jewelry store. people like the store they bought their trendy new ring at, but they LOVE the store that made their old ring new again.
