Self-reflection
  • it's a good feeling unless you can't print otherwise and the teacher is an asshole.

I had that once in highschool, so no Dean to escalate to or anything. principal took his side. the problem was, due to medical issues, i struggled to get assignments done at home. this class was 90% essays, but it was also just a history class. 100% of the material was covered in the lecture. I'm autistic and tend to remember lectures very well. so, come time for the final exam, one of the only actual in class exams, and i get nearly a perfect score. i knew the material, i just had other struggles with getting the papers done.

he used my struggle with the rest of the class as the only proof he needed to get me expelled. i had to finish my schooling at an alternative school, which was way way better anyway and honestly wasn't a setbacm in the end. it sure set the tone for my relation with authority though.

  • The past is a foreign country.
  • we still have a couple of lemon giving phrases that survive "when life gives you lemons". "looks like that car you bought is a lemon"

lemons are sour instead of sweet like most fruit. my guess is that a lemon is a thing to generally make your day/life worse, especially if it seemed like a good thing at first.

makes sense in the context of a "confirmed bachelor". he's giving that lemon to a stork. he's not going to have children. someone married him and he's not going to have children. back in the day that would be seen as defeating the point of marriage, though the real implication is he's gay and married for a beard.

in the context of other relationships or a breakup they thought they were dating someone for keeps, turns out they weren't worth it. they were a lemon, looked sweet but tasted sour when bitten into.

  • she likes watching tv with me
  • haha, i did take 4 pictures until i was thought that the show would be recognizable 😅

but that's just me getting a popular new show to boost my cat. she's the star that i game the algorithm for 🌟

  • she likes watching tv with me
  • holy shit, i forgot that was Colin Farrell! i'm a big fan of him in mcdonagh movies.

i was only kind of into the new Batman with the riddler, but the vibe feels right for it to be more of a mob story instead.

love the cinematography. I'm a videographer myself and happen to own and love one of the old lenses they use a lot on this show.

one episode isn't enough to make any judgements, but I can say that I'm looking forward to the next episode.

  • Is martial arts really that useful?
  • all of the "real" Martial arts from back before guns were about using weapons. those aren't really practiced as much anymore because they're all useless in the face of firearms anyway. why spend years training with a knife when the same time could be spent training with a gun. if combat effectiveness is your goal then you need to learn modern combat techniques.

that said, there's plenty to be learned from it, and it's not like it can't help you in a fight. but as another commenter said, the real way to win every fight is by avoiding them. so really the best thing to learn is de-escalation and recognizing danger.

  • Trial of the century
  • generally, when one has a large dildo collection, very few are self purchased.

regardless of gender, those who enjoy dildos are likely to draw thirsty motherfuckers. those thirsty folk tend to buy them many dildos.

  • mf'ing 8K banana PNGs
  • their point is that this is a game with maybe 50 still image assets and absurdly simply gameplay. it could be like 2MB, but it was likely built on preexisting assets and code that don't try to be lightweight.

the point is that 10 years ago the exact same game would have been like 25MB at most. I'm not familiar enough with the changes in the tools used by Indy devs in the time, but my guess is that it's where you'll find the reason.

  • me_irl
  • hmmm, my family couldn't afford vacations. when we visited family out of state we'd always have someone house sit to take care of the animals. usually a neighbor.

being the youngest boy and the biggest lover of animals, i became the default to do that for out neighbors when they were out.

it was a lovely little neighborhood.

but also, back then social media was young and pretty much only young people were on it. for my parents to give me advice about what to put on my blogspot or Facebook would have made me guffaw. hell, correctly identifying the platform and that one could share vacation plans on it would have been a big ask.

  • 'Trans People's Issues Alienate the Working Class,' Says Democrat Who's Never Met Either
  • i mean, it's the right that's currently trying to make laws banning trans care. the left just wants them to be left alone. as soon as the right stops trying to ban them the left will stop having anything to complain about

  • Locked
    stop
  • man IDK, i know a lot of vegans and none of them are silent about it. they're all deeply passionate people and that's not necessarily bad, but they're definitely not quiet.

  • Google is losing its status as a verb
  • yeah, most people just search on their phones and/or using their browser. they usually use whatever the default is and don't question it much.

it's moved off of Google sometimes, and when it hasn't it's not obviously labeled as Google. especially when they use siri or ok Google or any other newer interface for it.

  • Construct rule
  • because some people don't think those are an end all be all solution even if they can identify the problem.

problem and solution are not tied together yet. right now we only have the problem. this poster is indicating that they aren't sold on those being the solutions. there are many paths forward, it's fair to not know which one is right yet.

hell, it's more unreasonable to say you KNOW your solution will fix this. none of these economic systems have been successfully tested in large scale. they are all just theoretical. to change to a new one is scary and dangerous and must be done with much thought, consideration, and care.

  • As a dad, I got Gen Z folks telling me about YouTube drama and seriously I really don't GAF about some mukbang guy
  • idk, it all kind of instantly made him like... more transparent?

i used to think he had a problem and people on the Internet were going to kill him. i now realize i was falling for his character and it's all been part of the show. i work in tv, i should know better...

  • so perfect she sleeps in the golden ratio
